You're conquering Japan, and after that, the WORLD! ;pI have no idea what I'm doing in this game
The Rance games get grandfather'ed into VNDB, but they are absolutely not vns and if they were made today wouldn't be on the database. While the earlier titles probably classify as ADV, Sengoku absolutely is just a grand strategy game. The gameplay is the allure to this one.Missing VN Prefix tag, it is advertised as a visual novel thus it should have that tag.
To be honest, Alicesoft doesn't deserve any of your money anymore. All the actual talented people were either fucked over or quit by now, it's a shadow of its former self that exists purely to churn out gacha slop. Even when it's not making gacha slop, it's making barely passable snoozefests like Dohna Dohna. I'm planning on buying Rance X when it comes out because Steiner, Maria and the rest of the TL contractors put some good work into making an english language version of the game work, but it's a shame that Alicesoft gets even a single cent of that. You can buy this game for pretty cheap on good old games.
Hi - long time lurker here.
The save file provided by the Rance collection poster only didn't have alternate CG unlocked. By that I mean, for CG items like 57, only the first option under * is unlocked but the rest are still locked. So i tried to find the save files elsewhere on the internet, also in japanese sites (like sagaoz) as well as chinese sites but their saves seem all seem to have the same problem. I'm guessing its the difference between versions 1.04 and 1.07??
anyways, after spending forever to get all those scenes unlocked, i gave up and just edit the save file using nunuhara/alice-tools
providing it here for someone seeking the same, just put it in SaveData, make a backup before you do
edit: someone said it didn't work so heres another one that i just tested

The drama is a bit difficult to unpack because I don't read Japanese very well and it's mostly hearsay and apparently a lot of posts have either been deleted or my google-fu isn't as good as I'd like it to be, but the lead artist of most of the Rance series (Could you expand on this? Wasn't aware of any drama.
6. Or 1-3.I'm getting bodied in this game, which rance games should I play before this game to enjoy it better?
More that you can get sued for it. The threshold for defamation and libel in Japan are waaaay different than they are in a place like the United States so you get weird situations where absent any proof of damages or even if it's the truth, you can still get sued and lose if it was proven to damage reputation. It's a huge part of why public discourse in Japan is so insufferably polite.it's very typical for Japanese people to be recalcitrant to publicly bad mouth anyone.
Sengoku Rance is designed to lose a few times to start. There's no harm in starting over a few times, it's expected. If I had six pieces of generic advice-I'm getting bodied in this game, which rance games should I play before this game to enjoy it better?
Thanks for the tips guess I'll try againMore that you can get sued for it. That said, it is entirely possible that HIRO was correct about the shifting economics of eroge development- bottom line, gatcha is better for your bottom line since you can't exactly pirate it- and the old guard just hung it up because they didn't want to do gatcha shit. TADA was already on his way out for health reasons and they had planned to wrap up Rance in three games after Sengoku shipped so this could just be the Japanese online anonymous gossip mill not wanting to accept the economic realities of eroge development.
Sengoku Rance is designed to lose a few times to start. There's no harm in starting over a few times, it's expected. If I had six pieces of generic advice-
1: Stop wasting flags on events that don't matter.
2: Early on you can save yourself a number of flags by just letting war be declared on you. Nara, Ashikaga, Asakura, Tenshi and Iga will pick a fight with you eventually. You don't need to declare war on any of these people, they'll do it for you.
3: Most map-recruited allies aren't actually good. If they're not explicitly a named character in the plot, don't bother.
4: Your most powerful benefits come from Rance's Satisfaction bonuses. That's how you get extra flags, extra turns, Rance's special abilities, and many of the most powerful units in the game. If you can ask Leazas or Zeth for assistance, ask Zeth and Leazas for assistance. With one very specific exception- and Kanami is still stupid powerful in dungeon exploration- these are some of the most powerful units in the game. Maria, Leila, Urza, and Magic are all insanely powerful and they all have significant power scaling, and Rizna's still powerful in her own right. Just expensive.
5: Stop over-committing to fights. Excluding castle sieges to secure territories you probably don't need to commit six units to every fight. Early game you absolutely don't need more than one or two units to win a fight.
6: The only defense that matters is the last one to hold a territory. You don't need to repulse every single invasion attempt, your territories have multiple flags that need to be captured before it is lost. Of note, in scripted encounters like the Takeda Cavalry Blitz, they specifically avoid hitting the same territory over and over again till it is captured. If they can invade another territory where it wont flip control, they'll hit that instead.
