I don't want to leave a review for work in progress, but so far I'm not impressed. The original was fun and quirky, but overstayed it's welcome and the timeloop started to really drag things down. This soft reboot fixes nothing of that, and since many scenes are not done yet it starts being tedious almost immediately, instead of towards the end. And having more content is only going to help a bit, since the structure of pick a girl/path and spend the week with her while skipping a ton seems to be back.
Having basically the same cast and redoing "intro" scenes with them is also not really working for me, especially with the new setup. Nerd gets the girl(s) using a timeloop was good, but now you start with everyone liking you already. Some relations are sped up a bit, but you still go through the motions of "oh no how could this have happened" sex scenes that progress from petting to handiworks to penetration. The timeloop is also basically wasted. Getting better at asking Bailey out was a good bit, I don't see anything like that here yet.
The "New Message!" is killing me, because it triggers too early and it stops the skip. Click on phone, nothing, close the phone, click once to advance, new message again, click to see mediocre render, close the phone. I also can't believe we didn't yet get a button to skip the final "confrontation" like in the first game.
At least some scenes are still good, the Call On Me homage was great.
