You are surely correct on that though I find strange the pairings Ashley/Daphne and Bailey/Steph.
My reasoning was that even though the blondes are besties, there was kind of a "rivalry" between Ashley/Bailey (Ashley kind of didn't care about MC and then proceeds to have sex with him at prom and made Bailey sad).
And I can't really see Steph just make Bailey sad/jealous when she seems to care about her
Ashley and Daphne are primarily users (although Daphne has a softer side and isn't as purposefully cruel). They interact with the MC on the basis of how he can benefit them (although Daphne evolves away from that gradually).
Bailey and Steph are primarily caring. They care about each other, and they care about the MC. They interact on the basis of those emotional connections.
That seems to be the main basis for the pairings. I suppose you could simplify it down to evil vs good, though selfish vs caring seems more to the point. Even Ashley isn't outright evil, she's just really self-centered and not overly self-aware -- she doesn't seem to be able to fully comprehend the negative effect she has on people around her, and even when it's plainly pointed out she seems to not be able to feel guilty about doing it. So "amoral" seems a better description. And Daphne is mainly focused on her streaming and concomitant online persona because she
has to be in order to be able to pay for her tuition and rent.
