I mean I'm flattered you consider me an "expert", but a lot of it just came from basic game mechanic or using the cheat tool
But there's not really any "path" to speak of at the moment, only quest lines that each characters have.
If you have trouble continuing the quest, check the Journal (aka the letter J in your room) and it will give you a vague hint

If there's a split path within a character's quest line, you can see which ones they are with the Guide button in your room.

Though the current state of the game doesn't tell you which path you're on with them, just how to choose the other paths.
