If someone's playing a lot of Japanese games then they might as well anyway though. I've run into quite a few JP games that need either system locale changed or local emulator regardless of issues with decompressing the archive. I've never run into any game or other program that didn't run properly with my locale changed to JP though.

Well yes, you need the locale emulator to actually play the games, that's fine.
I haven't changed my system locale since 2016.
That's why I only mentioned extracting them shouldn't be that big a hassle.

I think my fix either broke the game, or the fact I made the changes in RPGMV instead of MZ broke it. probably the latter. i will take care of it on lunch in an hour and try again.

thats interesting, your fix shouldve worked, had a similar issue with another game where the animation won't start during battle due to the text wrapping braking the code, after putting the code in one line it fixed it, same as what you showed, gonna check the situation out after finishing putting a fan translated (not mlt) game into request section

thats interesting, your fix shouldve worked, had a similar issue with another game where the animation won't start during battle due to the text wrapping braking the code, after putting the code in one line it fixed it, same as what you showed, gonna check the situation out after finishing putting a fan translated (not mlt) game into request section

It didn't really "break" just i notice MV and MZ have a thing of regenerating the System.json when you save changes. in some cases that will "break" the game by either adding or removing the encryption key so files won't load properly. if encryption is on and file are not encrypted game won't read them and vice versa. I forgot since it has been awhile since I dabbled in troubleshooting RPGM.
