Similar problem with Early Access games on steam frankly. And with preorders. But this dev (of Shadows of Ambition) does a good job and it's weird to put out this critique in the thread of this game, there are way better game threads for that.See, it's when discussions go this way that developers tend to quit (engaging with the community, at least, or abandon the game at worst). I bet a majority of those that get accused of sucking their patrons have never given it a thought. They do something they love in their free time, because they want to, not because they're contractually obliged to deliver content to their supporters. Patrons are equally free give and withdraw support at any time. But I have to agree with you, there's something inherently wrong with the model of crowd funding, when it becomes a game of frustrated expectations from part to part. I've seen Skyrim modders "turn professional" and refuse to publish more sex animations until they reach a threshold of monetary support (like streamers with their goals). Just as I've seen patrons demanding regular content for their support. Both are wrong and unhealthy, IMHO. There are better ways to engage and keep both the creator and the community engaged, motivated and having fun.
I'm not white-knighting, just frustrated because I can see where this is going. Fucking waste.
