There's an old problem I was wondering about, which involves Yoshino referencing some famous old rock bands for some student's research project. There were two bands, "beekuruzu" and "kure-n", which I took to be The Beatles and Queen. The problem was adapting "Crane" to be a clear reference to Queen. In Japanese, it's not a long stretch between kure-n and kui-n, but how the fuck do I spell a word which is clearly being pronounced as CRANE into something that's a distorted version of Queen?
I spent awhile mulling over this, and I've decided I need to have the Q in there. Like "Qrane." The Q is non-negotiable, so now I have to make everything else work around this. The other consonants are 'r' and 'n', so I take "Qrn" and throw in some vowels. "Qrane". No. "Qraen". Fuck, no. "Quraen". No, and it looks too much like "Quran" anyway. "Qreen". Ehh...
Well, it's not like I'm gonna release a final version anytime soon 8D
