That's a commission I believe, he does a lot of commissions from other people and makes animated videos on his fanbox and other sites like that.
That I believe is a bat enemy from dragon quest, so yes nothing to do with shrift.

are you talking about a update to the translation or the game itself? cause they both just updated
the latest translation only works with the Aug 11 version of the game. I thought it would be a few days for the next patch, not the same day.
ironically the update was out before the translation patch update was release but announced after
nope, the patch was released on 30th, the update was 31st. Shrifted's discord is best place to track translation progress.
time zones are funny like that it updated at midnight jst(30 turning 31) which is was 5 or 6 hours before the translation released iirc

The variables aren't changing at all. I tried to alter it from the save editor, but it's still the same amount as the last save. Also, it doesn't work on Mtool. Sigh, probably had to farm for it manually.
those are recorded on another file, they can be edited with mtool but it's tricky and can cause game breaking bugs like the game freezing during hscenes

to see the update announcement, you'll see it was after the patch was posted on discord. On discord they even specifically note the translation patch was released c.12 hours before the update. Shrifted was happy about that.
Yes, it does work but you find the exact variables, you need to find the number for "Current Sp" and search for that number in save editor and change it.
You can find it in current stats in the menu
