I have the same question, why add content from previous cities if it doesn't give you the option to return... instead of focusing on the new cities.

so i know this game plays video as a main form instead of a background, but i have all the videos as black backgrounds and i am unsure as to how to fix it, anyone got any tips

Renpy shows a black screen when the video is missing. That sounds like a corrupted download.
Also if you open the game and press Shift + G, you should get this screen. Try changing renderer.
Well, we do it the old fashion way, start from the beginning and follow the walkthrough. I will admit it's kinda awkward especially if this update only fills in the older content but not the newer content like Siann.
I think dev promised to add content based on the commissions that they were paid so they focus on backtracking a bit to add more content in the older region. That and maybe they are preparing to write an epic story for Siann and are taking their time I hope.
that is understandable, but the developer should think about the players, for example to play this new content I would have to play the game from the beginning again and being a sandbox it is not worth investing time again to get those scenes that should be very short. I like to get all the content but it is not worth playing from the beginning... so it is still frustrating that is why I should make some way to return to the cities otherwise it is as if I did not get new content... since replaying it is a waste of time.

There are a good bunch of cheats to make replaying it from the beginning a very easy task.
Since they always warn old saves may corrupt the game, I use them every update.
i did do this already and i still get black screens, is there some driver those renders might not play well with an amd gpu? ive tried both reset renpy and even reset the computer as well
Edit : i would like to say it works perfectly fine if i emulate it for andriod on my PC and it works online on newgrounds as well, just not on the standalone version of renpy. i just want to play whats current not a update or two behind

Playing with cheats doesn't make me enjoy the experience but I respect your opinion, what I think is better is to wait until it's finished to play and I will withdraw the support I had for this game. I was disappointed.
You can just have saves loaded at different times, which is what I do.
You not wanting to skip certain areas with the tools available to you is on you, not the devs somehow lol.
Like you don't want to replay the game but you also don't want to use tools that allow you to skip content you've already seen in order to not replay it. Like, if you've seen it, why is cheating to skip something an issue?
It makes no sense. I don't get the idea that every new piece of content needs to be developed exactly in a linear fashion. That's not how any project works and in fact makes no real sense from a development/design standpoint.
The more this game goes on the shittier the "romances" become lmao and the harder it is to take it seriously.
It's like they didn't even TRY with the two fox girls. They were basically sexually extorted by some guy we still haven't killed, and then the game gratifies you by having them tell the story in a trauma dumpy way on the first date, then they offer to get you off sexually because of your corruption. It feels kind of tactless to have them be borderline catatonic the first time you see them, pretty good considering they escaped sexual slavery, only to then have them be really calm and almost gung-ho about spilling their life story.
Also Goriath sucked even more than the other Executors. Pyrus at least sets the scene on fire, Tregor wins for a while, Erden is best girl, Jiliana exists, Agasitre is stupid and Taulon shares one braincell with her. Meanwhile Goriath is killed like an afterthought despite his whole thing being "he's the big guy of the evil empire".

Is this your first game ever played or why do you act surprised that the game becomes worse? Is this unique to just this game or an overall exact copy of the experience we get with nowadays games?^^
