Absolute garbage balancing, you start with no weapon and just 1500 coins, you can buy a single pipe and upgrade a skill 3 times, the enemies have an INSANE amount of health, literally a whole ass 1000 coin pipe to kill a single enemy, that only gives 100 coins back when you fuck them, that is, if you didn't either die to the awful parrying timing or you took too long to kill a single enemy and the instakilling boss is now on top of you. "Just stealth around them!" How in the actual fuck are you supposed to do that, when the maps are composed of only tight corridors, the enemies make no noise and can see further than you can. I only managed to progress the game when I got lucky in my 12th god forsaken try, when I found a pistol in the first chest, a gun that can actually kill the enemies. Btw, no the shop lady does NOT give you a shiv if you don't have a weapon, don't know what these comments are smoking. TLDR: weapon damage should be better scaled, enemies should be able to spot you so easily, and map gen needs to give you more options for map traversal if the point of the game is stealth.
