I think the speech about it's not about money is really beautiful. I study a rough erotic story script, create a storeboard for a preview and study a tool that transforms this into a moving story, "because I don't consider 99% here to be games, they don't understand what a game is" I say this about EVERYONE the so-called GAMES. Well, but in conclusion, after these steps I create a base to leverage resources, but I say that everything is detached, it is out of love. It is not dishonest to admit that this niche is a business opportunity, pornography is a good mine of resources. Why deny this?
Another problem is the rush, before launching a completed game and analyzing the growth of leverage in the annual timeline, the boys want to become millionaires in 6 months, some in the third update abandon the game.
I partly agree with you, but there are few things you should consider:
- Feedback is necessary, but there is a difference between feedback and shitstorm, which I experienced in the past and still do sometimes. Saying that it´s normal/shoud be accepted/is part of life is easier from the perspective of a consumer than from a dev, believe me.
- I dont know any 3dx dev who wants to become a millionaire in times of extreme piracy, economic crisis, poverty, unemployment, etc. Every dev knows that 99% of the consumers will pirate the product, because they might be poor or selfish or uneducated or egoistic or greedy, even if they love the product and fap to it many times.
Why?
Because our society is pretty strange. 99% are ready to pay $5 for a fucking coffee or $10 for cigarettes few times a week. But they are not ready to pay for porn, not even $1, because they think it´s free. But it´s not. Money, time, hope, motivation, skills, education, hardware, power is invested in each VN and each porn video. The difference is that you will not be caught if you consume it for free. But you can go to prison for stealing milk from a physical grocery store.
Our porn industry (inkl. 3dx porn) would be extremly better and more qualitative if more woud support it financially. Doesnt matter how much and whom - your favourite porn studio, porn site, porn actress, 3dx dev, etc. Almost everybody is consuming porn in the younge generations. For most, it´s part of their life. They consume it as much and as often like other products and services. The more people spend in a specific branch of the economy, the higher the offer and better the quality is on the market. Thats how economics works. Plus, the longer the people support someting, the more the producers become long-term-oriented.
Of course (and this need to be mentioned too), as in every industry, there are also fraudsters who earn a lot of money and rest on their laurels. But thats a low number which you can prove also here on F95.
- If devs abandon their VN, there can be several reasons behind their decision. Most here think "He quit because he didnt became a millionaire, but there are a lot of reasons, believe me, just a few examples:
1. They are burned out.
2. They have a lack of support (financial and social).
3. They learn new things and develop too fast and start to dislike their VN, because new ideas come in mind and a new level of quality in writing, rendering, modelling.
4. They have family problems.
5. They have career problems.
6. They have a mental block, regarding the storyline, character-development, etc.
7. They loose their hardware or data without backups.
