Learned I just needed the bug fix it wasn't that I was in the wrong area. The book case just wouldn't let me grab the book.

Got the same bug. Put bugfix3 from main post and book will work.
Found another bugs. Aphrodisiac potion and door to granny to steal oil both are not working. It's impossible to play.

Need more details.
Edit2: It was a spawn bug, as I have some chnages on the map so I can't give a bugfix but you can try this save file, just click on the perfume bottle and continue and you can go in the rose's room after giving Evelyn the potion.

I gave up. Another two critical bugs and weather bug after night with cloth merchant. The last one solved only with game restart.
Can't speak to the tavernkeeper for nun quest with worshippers to chapel and there are no options to peeking or overhearing in tavern. If you try to sleep in tavern then you'll get an error.
A lot of quests have non-intuitive ways to solve. Always check H-menu for every character is not a great solution for this type of game. Huge amount of misprints and bugs.

Thanks, but videos on the compressed version lost their transparency.
Therefore, the task while you are running as Emma around the village is almost impossible to do, due to the whole screen being covered in black.

That problem only occurred in the compressed version, so you must download the normal version to proceed.

It's been a while since i have played however i believe that you get the charcoal from the blacksmith forge and the paper from a basket in the groceries store left of your guard cabin.

Just warning, might be wrong its been a while.
