VN - Ren'Py - Single Again [v1.24.1] [Clever name games]

So this is one of those games where you play as a beta MC. The game is about you raising a daughter that's not even your own. The MC keeps having nightmares over and over again about his ex wife who cheated on him; this is because he's too much of a pussy to just man up and move on with his life. Even during the scene where she tries to screw you over when going through the divorce process, the MC is still timid and shy. Additionally, the MC gets his ass kicked by one of his step daughters; that's how weak he is. Also, another one of the step daughters has to explain to him about all the other girls because the MC is too dumb to figure this out on his own. Additionally, the writer has to put in random dream fairy sequences that explain how girls work to the MC because the MC is so dumb that the writer had to figure out a way to teach him how women work and used imaginary fairies to do so. As the story progresses, you also find out that he got friend zoned hard by a love interest in his past and he is now raising her daughter like the cuck he is. Even when one of the step daughters wants to have sex with the MC, he spends about 5 minutes of text saying that he doesn't want sex because he's too scared.

The good things is that the renders are nice and the women look fairly hot. But avoid if you don't like cuck and beta MC's.

Infuriating. I really like the story (even if it is preachy at times), I like the characters (even if they all have a bit of a soap opera quality to them), I like the slow pace. It's nice.

BUT the MC is just unbearable. He is whiny, little man that constantly preaches about moral high grounds, while going along with whatever his "daughters" tell him to do. His doubts are obviously used to drag out the inevitable (which is a super cheap plot device), but it also damages the whole story set up that way.

Even with a lot of suspension of disbelief, there is no reason for any of the love interests to actually want to be with that guy. He has zero redeeming qualities other than being "nice". He is not assertive at all, he takes advantage of his daughters and then cries about it. There is literally no redeeming quality in him and yet all the girls magically fall in love with him.

As this behaviour drags on (and on and on...), it really starts to unravel the story, despite the daughters being fairly well written.

At this point, it's painful to watch.

My first review.

This was my favorite game on the site for some time because of the romantic build-up, however, each new update is less significant than the last.

The characters talk and talk. Rebecca is nosy and manipulative. Lily needs to be put into an institution.
The MC is the most indecisive and whiny MC ever.

I'm just playing this to see it through the final step, Abby (she seems to be the most normal character as well). But considering it's been 2 years since the game was first released idk when to expect what we're all waiting for.

Damn, where do i begin with this one

First of all, there are spoilers ahead. I cant review this without talking about specifics and without refencing some things that happen in the game

Second of all, I really like incest games ... if you throw a harem in there its even better, so keep that in mind.


Now ... I wanted to finish chapter 1 first before reviewing this but i just cant take it anymore. I have to do this.

I find the game to be quite good overall. I intend to keep playing it.
Its a slow burn but i like it, thats my thing. Romance, build-up etc.

The writing i found to be ok most of the time but not always. There are times where its .. just ... not good.

There's some drama in here, some plot twists, all good. I like this.
I hate when games are just perfect .. in the sense that nothing bad really happens, everyone is happy from day one.
The story is good enough, its interesting enogh to keep me playing.

In fact this is one of the few reasons why im not stopping. I want to see how it ends.

The characters are mostly fine. The daughters are written decently enough (for my standards anyway) and i love them for who they are so thats a big plus. It always sucks when your love interest(s) suck. More on them later.

Now ... the bad stuff.

First of all, i dont like the artstyle.
From the main love interests, Abigail is the weakest among them. She looks ... wrong. Something about her is not right. There are a few renders where she just looks outright awful. Proportions are messed up.

Lilith is better. Still weird but better than Abby.

Becca is by far the more normal in terms of looks, the more better looking i should say. Still weird but from all other models in the game, she is the least weird.
She looks aweomse in some renders, especially with her glasses

... but then there's Beth. A good example of ... hideousness. When i first saw her, i minimized the game and went on the forum here to see if there are tags such as supernatural or something because the first thing that came to mind when i saw her was ... is she a zombie?
Im telling you, something is definitely wrong with her skin color. Not just that, her face is weird. There are some renders where she is literally scary to look at.
Dunno what happened to her.
She is the more extreme example of the artstyle being ... weird

That being said, i dont hate them. Especially not your step daughters. They look weird but their personalities are fine.
Abby is loving and sweet
Lilith is the devil but sweet at the same time
Becca is fucking crazy, i legit think she is insane ... probably has a screw loose in her head but GOD i love her!
Also she seems to be some kind of genius when it comes to manipulating people and such. Where did that come from?


Anyway. THE MAIN REASON for the 1 star rating is the MC.

Dear god man. It all starts fine but then it all decends into hell.

I get it. WE get it. Its wrong to have romantic relationships with your daughters (be them step daughters or blood related) and the MC struggles with this as well. I get it. Its fine, its the normal way to react to this kind of thing.

But for the love of god, tone it down a bit !!! He goes on and on and on like a broken record saying how wrong this is, how bad this is, how he is fucked etc THE WHOLE GAME. There are these never ending monologues of him complaining, whining every 3 fkn minutes!

It was fine at first but damn, it becomes so fucking annoying.
Especially when he finally fucks Lilith. JUST STOP IT!!! STOP WHINING for one god damn minute

He has no balls or his name to stand up to people, he is unable to say no to his daughters and then when something happens, he complains and whines and he never stops!

I was reading the other reviews and people mention this thing but i assumed they were exagerating ... well, they werent.

I really hope this stops at some point. If he keeps going like this throughout the entire chapter 1 ... or 2 ... im gonna go crazy.

Beyond that he is a fucking pussy. He is supposedly an adult, been through 2 marriages, raised 3 daughters (step) and yet he behaves like a fkn kid. He is being pushed around left and right by some teenagers essentially.
Every couple of sentences he has to go with "OH SORRY, I ... IM SORRY", sorry this, sorry that ... he never stands up for himself.
You're supposed to be their dad, act like one! At least a bit. I know he fears to lose them but cmon!!!

The rare cases where he stands up to them are nice but are rare.
Also horse dick. Its an obsession it seems. So many games with horse size dicks.

He's also fucking dense. Im bad with girls but DAYUM man, the MC is on a whole other level. How the fuck he ended up married twice idk.

An absolutely amazing and very touching slow burn game. It is beyond well written and features a cast of interesting, distinct, consistent and loveable characters. The art style might take a bit of getting used to, but the game honestly looks pretty good once you do get used to it. The animations are quite impressive too! Seriously though, the writing is top notch and you get genuinely invested and care about the characters. It's a story focused game and it does that well, but when the sex scenes do happen they are honestly hot as fuck! If I had one little complaint or gripe it's that there were a few too many long dream sequences, but that's entirely down to personal preference.

Great game. Love the story and 99% of the characters. Only one i have any problem with is Meiko just because i find her bland. Her entire personality is the shy girl, not much else as of yet to her. The other character i feel a connection too and whenever the villain is mentioned i get a since of dread. I cant wait to get more. GLHF

I was nervous about playing this one; the girls' looks are wonky at first, especially when compared to the standard Daz character models also in the game, but you quickly grow used to them and find them endearing.

I was also nervous about all the reviews describing the MC as a cuck or loser, but it didn't take long for me to realize these reviews are written by douchebags. The MC is a good man- one of the best I've seen in a porn VN. He's kind, honest, and principled; his initial hesitance to pursue the three main girls is entirely justified and respectable, especially considering the bullshit he's been through. I found myself agreeing with him roughly 80% of the time.

The sex scenes are above average; there's plenty of dirty talk and dialogue to make them feel real, even if there's a whole lot of "UNNGH" and "FWAAAGH" jargon.

The overall narrative feels great. Character development is slow but visible from one day to the next. I'm not entirely sure where the story is going (besides the harem endgoal), but I'm eager to see it.

I only noticed 2 cons to the game so far. The first is the writing; while the intent behind the dialogue is great, there are a LOT of grammar issues in chapter 1. Punctuation mixups, capitalization issues and the omnipresent misuse of the words "to" and "too". It really fucks with the flow of the dialogue at first. It nearly killed the game for me, but I powered through it and got engrossed by the characters and the story enough that I was able to ignore the writing issues. Chapter 2 seems to have almost no such problems in comparison.

The second problem is with the MC in the last third of chapter 1. I know, I said I like him, and I do- but that last 20% of the time I didn't agree with him, it was because he just won't shut up about how wrong all this is. As things are ramping up with some of the girls, he refuses to acknowledge simple, obvious facts that he and everyone around him can see; he's not wrong, this whole situation is absolutely fucked up, but that apprehension doesn't apply anymore. He does start to get over it, but it takes a LOT of grinding down to accept the score.

Overall, one of my favorites. Do want more, now now now.

The girls are hot, the animations are excellent, and some of the story beats are nice, but man oh man is the MC such a spineless cuck. He raised three kids that aren't his and he's a total wimp that has to be manhandled into every sexual situation. He's such a wimp that's afraid of women holy shit. That's not what people want in a porn game, actually the opposite.

I give it four stars cause I clicked through most of the story. If you actually read the story you will get secondhand embarrassment for this dude and then maybe it's three stars or even two.

Story is decent . animations are good . One thing I didn't like is the main character . Sometimes he is the greatest perv and then his conscience hits and feels guilty about it . It's been going on like this since the first update . It's always the same story and his guilty feelings to his step daughters and he's not confident enough to stop their approaches and later whines about them. The choices have little to none effects on the outcome of the story

Ok, I'm not going to keep repeating what others have said here, but I agree with all the pros and all the cons that folks have said on here. The MC is insufferable and suffers from HUGE Cock Syndrome but the story is cute, girls are hot and some of the better animations I've seen......Looking forward to future releases.

Love this game. I can play it multiple times and not get bored at all. The characters are very likable and the sex scenes are quite nice also. But what I love about this game the most is the story that is just soo good.

Single Again is one of the best game I've played. Love the story, the design and dialogs are brilliant.

This is very entertaining, yet somewhat frustrating game. I completely enjoyed Chapter 1 and am ecstatic with the release of Chapter 2. I highly recommend this game if you're interested in satirical incest games. A true gem.

This is a great game. I love the characters, the story, and the renders. I can actually understand and empathize with the MC for the most part in this game as opposed to a lot of games where I think the MC is a complete dick or worse. Eventually I did get a little tired of him repeating the same thoughts over and over again about how "wrong" everything was but for the most part he was written to be an actually nice guy.

I'm really looking forward to being about to pursue Abby and Meiko. Also looking forward to scenes with multiple girls. Overall I would have to put this game in my top 10 of games I've played out of the 60 or so I've played from this site.

Great job to the devs and I hope to see more of this in the future.

I wasn't sure if rank 4 or 5 stars, because the game has small issues that bugs me a lot.
But I must acknowledge that since I started I was clearly hooked on the story and was unable to leave.
Most of the complaints are about the game over screens and the inconsistency of some behaviour but they didn't seemed like a problem to me. Having renpy rollback and having being advised at the beginning of the game "don't be too pervert at the beginning" that are easy to manage.
My complaints are that it copies the game mechanic of another game about a parent dating his daughter... We all know the game, is even referenced in this game several times.
These mechanics are the commented game over at the start of the game, the multiple dialog options that must all be selected, without actual relevance, but the most annoying one option decision . Specially relevant in the sex scenes.
The other thing that made my think of reducing one star is the unexpected end of chapter 1, to soon in my opinion:

I have to admit up front this is one of my favorites on this site. That having been said I feel the MC must live in ohio because the amount of fear he has of prosecution even though its fauxcest is terribly high (ohio has a law that anyone "in loco parentis" messing with any of their charges regardless of age can be prosecuted even without blood ties) the art is excellent the character developement is good for all (a little slow for MC ) I just d/l'ed the newest update and am expecting another fun filled hour of gameplay if you are wondering... yes d/l it its worth the time

I'm in agreement with most of the other 4 or 5 star reviews here.. the story is good.. the renders are good.. the "feels" are great.. Bruh called it erotica and I think that's a great way to put it. There is a great balance of humour.. you'll laugh but it doesn't get to the point where it feels overdone.

The man sticking point is the MCs annoying whinny behavior. I'm actually willing to forgive this up to a point because it's extremely believable that as soon as the hormones are spent, they are immediately replaced by a feeling of wtf did I just do and regret.

That said past 0.13 we'll have to see how things go. There is a point where it just becomes annoying and poor writing to keep repeating the same thing over and over. I'm hoping that Clever Name games makes the right choice and lets MC accept that Becca is old enough to make her own decisions and that Lily NEEDS the MC to be her friend, father, daddy and lover if she's ever going to have a chance of being a happy person. He even said as much and then not 2 seconds later it feels like he's trying to back out of it. It's obvious she needs a firm guiding hand and that a shrink is just going to destroy her at this point. If we're given that much then I'm fine with his continued push back on doing anything with Abagail.

Good one, keep dabbling with emotions more, love it when a game's got a great balance of pure romance and lewd romance.
One gripe is that Frank just can't let himself enjoy the moment, he should be more open and accepting of his feelings towards the LIs after his realisations.
Other than that, keep it up.
This is one of those games that transcends porn, and becomes erotica, fulfilling both the heart and the loins.

Edit:
Deducting one star because the MC is just refusing to have any emotional progress in himself, it's like you go through such life and relationship altering events with your loved ones yet he's unable to change.
He's always walking on egg shells around his girls, that's alright if he JUST started getting romantic with them but there should be reciprocity of emotions, it's like girls want him no matter what, doesn't even matter if their love interest is giving those feelings back or not.
Just feels one sided at points.

Interesting story and character development. Well written and easy to read so far. Great quality and clean renders. Definitely keeping an eye on this one. Here is to hoping this project makes it to completion!
