The text-to-render ratio in this game is too high IMO. Conversations / dialogue drag on and on and take up too much space when compared to action / plot-moving events.
As for the MC, nothing new to be said here but holy shit... Becca is the true main character, she's the only one taking action and making decisions and plans to move things forward, MC is just (annoyingly hesitantly) along for the ride...

To be fair, Germany only disallows "straight line" incest, so aunts and cousins would also be okay, so would need to be removed. It's difficult to use a legal definition for what turns people on - and the "stepcest" market in porn is huge, so many people seem to like it. (Or it might just be the closest you can legally put out officially in many of the markets.)

The step prefix can't possibly be there just to circumvent a legal barrier, could it?! As for why it's so big as a fetish, I guess the blood/inheritance taboo aspect is a smaller part of it, especially considering the illegality of same sex incest.
Then again, half of the world practices extended family incest as a tradition, so there's another demographic.

No the ratio is great. The probem is the content of that dialog. His self doubt in the beginning was a little excessive but that was forgivable because it was the ENTIRE POINT to properly define his temperament and character. But by the point the story has progressed to, at leat 2 thirds of his complaints should not exist. Its not "10 x too much" as others are complaining but it is still absolutely far too much. The points been made by this time and his attitude itself should have changed by now. If other dialog happened in those moments, not even character or plot progressing stuff just wholesome or not so wholesome conversation then it would still be perfect.
Its inexcusable when games use stepcest pointlessly and an utter disgrace when they pull the landlady crap.
But some games, including this one, are 100% fine with the non blood relations because that is the proper relationship for this set of characters. They have a history. Nothing here was a tacked on 'step' that made no sense other than censorship circumvention. It all makes sense for them so complaints on that front, for THIS GAME, are uncalled for. And a mod to change it would break the story, not fix it

I disagree. It feels like that the dev tried very hard for Frank not to have children of his own, not because the story really needed it.
That's why it feels so weird for so many people. Abigail could have easily been Franks daughter by blood but the dev even denied us that.
To me it feels tacked on.

Frank is an insecure twit. Abigail not being his just supports that this is not some adult who lost his nerve. He has been that way his whole life even when his childhood "friend" was obviously into him. Abigail isnt tacked on to me at all. The fact there is proper history for it makes it part of the story rather than a censorship detail we're forced to deal with.

Because Abby not being his biological child is a very important plot point? The story is all about, quoting Supernatural " Family don't end in blood. And it doesn't start there, either. " This is the whole point of the story. This is what Lily is learning throughout it. And Abby is a big part of that. Lily always believed that your biological family MUST love you as a default. This is why she didn't want to believe that Frank could ever love them. Because he wasn't her biological dad so he don't love her. Her (and pretty much everyone else's) belief that Abby was Frank's biological daughter also fits into that. Frank loves Abby because she is his biological daughter. But after she learns that Abby is not his daughter by blood it puts her beliefs into question because now she sees all those signs of Frank;'s love for Abby as proof that you can love someone that ain't your biological family. It was a breaking point in her character development. It was, even more explicitly said in her side story.
In conclusion, the step-relationship that all characters have is crucial to the story. There are many VNs about fucking your daughter. I am sure you know them. But this one is a beautiful representation of found family and these kinds of games are much rarer so i am glad we have this one.

It depends how you define "needed it" - would making Abby the bio daughter of Frank kill any story? Certainly not. But it would be a different story - there would be no insecurity about bio dad, there would be more obstacles about biocest, Frank would not wonder about having missed Jess and her clues in time and so forth. A different story with 1-3 of the girls being his bio daughters, maybe even Meiko (yuck) with a similar setup could have been done and people might have enjoyed it, so it is not "needed" as such.
But there are enough games out there where you can just change the words in question - remove any "step", call the landlady "mum" - and there would be no need to rewrite even a single sentence apart from maybe grammar issues. Here it is an integral part of the story and much stuff would not make sense anymore unless we rewrote a lot of stuff. The "step" is a big part of the whole team dynamic. As such we can argue whether that story element is necessary, but then we can argue a lot of other stuff, too. Did the game need Jess to die? Was it necessary for Shannon to be a mega bitch instead of just a normal sized one?

I can understand it. Many (if not all) people have issues about their looks, and when growing up being "different" often means getting picked on. And certain characteristics may indeed turn people away. But I was just speaking on my behalf as ultimate ruler: freckles rule. As do well placed birth marks.
never been a big fan of freckles to be honest. but doesn't mean i hate them. lots of vn girls with freckles are some of my faves. AmRose from Fetish Locator being one of the best ones imo. and of course Riley from College Kings..

Yes, the dev "tried very hard" for Frank not to have his own kids. Because that's the story he wanted to write. It's not "tacked on" ... it's integral to the story being told. If it wasn't, there wouldn't be a whole plot thread dedicated to dealing with her biological family.
Every background thread has been intentionally woven to produce the situation at the start of the game. You can't just swap out adopted daughter with biological daughter, because the story spends time defining WHY she's his adopted daughter. You can't just change Lilly from his step daughter to his actual daughter because Lilly's whole story is based on her KNOWING who her biological father is. MAYBE Becca could have grown up thinking Frank was her bio dad and still be on the same path, but it definitely makes much more sense for him to have shown up when she was a young teen and her to fall in love with him and then be devastated by her mom taking Frank away from her and never really getting over that.
Most people aren't weirded out by the step-ness of the story, they're annoyed to distraction by Frank still being so in denial and "wimpy" (for lack of being able to remember a better word) all the time about his girls. But even that is established multiple times throughout the story that this is his personality. Yet even though he might spend too much time admonishing himself over it, he still is moving forward with everyone except Abby ... WHO HE PROBABLY SAW BORN. I know the majority of the people in this forum don't care about that, but clearly the author does.
I'm not going to make a judgement about whether the quality of the writing lives up to the current 4-star ranking, but I don't have a problem with there being ONE AVN that doesn't just get past the first "incest" scene and declare open season on the whole family, even if there aren't any biological barriers to break.
I LIKE those, but I like this too.
