With the developers recent blog post, we now have confirmation that SiNiSistar 2 is now moving onto content updates after two weeks of bugfix updates. Now as for what those content might be, I would like share my own thoughts about it and speculate on what will be added to the game in the future.
What Nennai has confirmed they will be implementing in the coming updates:
- New costumes for Lilia
- New enemies and mid-bosses on the Highway
- The return of the Spider enemies from SiNiSistar
- Expansion of the Vampiric Swamp area
- New NPCs and events inside Arcezon Town
|
Outside of actually adding onto the currently half-baked ending which had us all going "wtf happened", Nennai has confirmed that they would be adding everything we have been asking for over here in this forum. The village will finally have more content outside, the Spider fans from the first game are now satisfied, more enemy variety to break up the rather monotonous trek across the Highway each playthrough, and more costumes! Great for everyone who has been looking to the modders for more skins. (Again, the modders in this community are the absolute GOATs!)
The only thing that confuses me is the expansion of the Vampiric Swamp. Apart from the complaints from others here that it was rather short, and the final music wasn't as good as the beta versions, I honestly thought the level was alright. Maybe the expansion is to make room for the Spiders, considering the area is themed around leeches and those flies, but I also speculate that it's to add another path to a future area. I assume this because Nennai mentioned that they would be implementing all the ideas they had in development but couldn't do so. And from reading through the various early Ci-en blog posts Nennai wrote during the game's development here are my personal thoughts on what may be the new content added to the game.
Enemies
Bandits - A staple of every fantasy H-game, Nennai expressed interest in having bandits be a part of SiNiSistar 2 very early on in development; back when Lilia and Haanja were just concept art designs. According to Nennai, they were to be one of the few non-monster enemies in the roster. They were ordinary people forced into banditry most likely due to the destruction wrought by the Abomination Broodlings and Nennai states that they would rob and eat unsuspecting people they came across, which really speaks to how devastating the Otherworlders are to Arcezon that cannibalism would've been widespread outside of Arcezon Town.
Now what is interesting about the bandits are the gameplay and lore implications they would have should they be implemented. According to the Ruffian gallery description, sisters of the church are forbidden from harming people due to their vows and that purification magic has no effect on humans.
(This lore bit is also why Nennai created the parasitic villagers in the Abandoned Village. They were originally supposed to be brainwashed humans but were scrapped and became monsters instead since he didn't want Rabiane to harm or kill humans.)
If bandits were to reappear as a common enemy or as a mid-boss, they would be an enemy that can only be harmed by pure melee as magic would do 0 damage to them. This would make them immune to the common cheese tactic of just spamming magic/explosive arrows so it would make for an interesting encounter.
As for H-scenes, it'll likely be the standard gang-rape where each of the bandits take turns fucking Lilia. However, as much as I want a scene/game over where the brigands would keep Lilia as their personal sex slave or sell her off on a nearby slave market/auction or to the townsfolk/Traveling Merchant, that wouldn't be the case here. Nennai planned on SiNiSistar's take on bandits to be cannibals in a world where food is hard to come by. Most likely should Lilia fail to escape, she would just be cut up and eaten as meat.
Vampires - As strange it may sound as they're a stereotype in these kinds of settings, vampires were intended to be a part of the second game since the start of development. According to Nennai, vampires were classified as a 'Heretic' type enemy and they were supposed to be working together with the Priests in spreading Otherworlder influence across Arcezon and heralding the mortal vessel of the 'Father'. As such, they were to be a major threat in Lilia's quest to stop the Otherworlders.
Unfortunately, they never made it past the conceptualization stage as Nennai instead focused on the Demi-humans as they wanted to add a goblin/orc type enemy since even before the first game was finished. The only known quest featuring vampires that I know of was when Nennai entertained the idea that Lilia would find a father taking care of his sick son in the woods and would give him medicine for his child. When Lilia would return, she would find the father dead and the son transformed into a child vampire. Should Lilia lose, she would be killed by the vampire child, who would tear open her throat and drink all of her blood.
Should vampires be implemented back into the game, they probably wouldn't have the same prominence they had when Nennai first visualized them since the Priests are now the sole reason why Otherworlder influence has become so widespread. They would most likely just be symptoms of the problem, not one of the root causes. As for how they would appear as enemies, they'd probably appear in either the Vampiric Swamp (because of the name), on the Highway, or in an entirely new area.
Village NPCs
Female Mercenary

First appearing in the concept art stage around the same time as Lilia and Haanja, the Female Mercenary was supposed to appear in Arcezon Town as one of its defenders. Unlike the two sisters however, she did not have any purification magic whatsoever and only fought using a sword. According to Nennai, her quest would've involved her being kidnapped by an Otherworlder and it would've resulted in her transforming into one, or with her being eaten by them and said Otherworlder inheriting her memories of using the blade.
While a minor quest, it would served to further expand onto SiNiSistar's world building as it illustrates why armies hadn't been mobilized to slow the spread of the Arcezon/Kessaria disasters. According to Nennai in their blog post, without purification magic, regular soldiers such as the Female Mercenary would only be able to fend off monsters temporarily with conventional weapons. Against large groups of monsters or more powerful beings, they would be as helpless as any ordinary human would be against them.
This is why the Church sends exceptional sisters with great skill over purification magic (Referring to Lilia and probably Rabiane as well in the blog post) to deal with the outbreaks as despite not having great physical strength, their ability to defeat "otherworldly monsters" makes them more valuable than their male Holy Knight counterparts.
(So that answers the whole question earlier in the thread about how effective conventional weapons are against monsters [@Shirou x Irisviel OTP & Mig-31B] and that cool crusade idea you brought up Zanurah)
Unfortunately, both her and her quest did not make it past the concept art stage so all that lore wasn't included in the game. When Nennai outsourced the NPC designs to Shishikura Sendou (A Mangaka Artist who drew the Town NPCs and the Gravekeeper), the Female Mercenary did not make a reappearance, so she did not return for the final product. However, given that Nennai already has a design for her, it's possible she may return in the coming updates.
Town Guards - One of the early NPCs Nennai conceptualized early in development, Town Guards were the standard guard NPCs defending Arcezon Town from the monsters. While no doubt such a role didn't really add much other than atmosphere which was probably why they were cut, there was an interesting event idea that was entertained by Nennai but was never finalized.
According to his blog post, there was an idea that one of the guards would fall in love with Lilia, so he brokered a deal with the Priests to have her all for himself. He would then approach Lilia and inform her of a strange monster he saw outside of town, prompting Lilia to accompany him. After doing so, he would give Lilia a sleeping pill causing her to fall unconscious. When she reawakens, she discovers the guard talking with a priest about their deal and upon realizing she's awake, a boss fight begins where Lilia fights both the guard and the priest at the same time.
Should she lose, the priest would either take away Lilia's soul or feed her drugs that turn her into an invalid. The scene ends with a game over where the guard continually has sex with his "beloved" Lilia who by this point is nothing more than a lifeless sex doll.
Unfortunately, Nennai reiterates in that same blog post that both the guard idea and the vampire child (that I mentioned in the Vampire section) H-scenes were just ideas they were entertaining and aren't actually final. Given that both didn't make the final cut, it's obvious it was never in the cards. A shame too, since its such a great idea. I'm personally hoping that it would return as one of the new Town events in a future update.
Locations
Isolation Ward - An unused area that was removed after the Version 1.7.0 early test builds prior to the game's release yet still present in the game's code as discovered by mk40. Designed to be the birthplace of the Bobel enemies scattered throughout the game, this area was most likely planned to be the equivalent of the 'Laboratory' level from the first game so we may see the return of the 'Rat King' and the 'Doppelganger' bosses. As it's still in the code, this would most likely be the next area Nennai would implement in a future update.
