While I personally never had consoles while growing up, I did have a PC, and did play both original Fallouts. And I will not stand you pretending like there was no fast travel in Fallout.
The overworld map WAS one giant fast travel mode, in both games. You were not walking on your two own legs across the world in either of original fallouts, you were simply watching a point moving across the map on its own. Only taking breaks to fire off random encounters.

GTA games have fast travel, it's taxi and/or trains depending on particular GTA game, and it also has a whole cast of vehicles you can drive yourself. Which means you practically never have to travel on foot in any of GTA games.

Morrowind has a whole slew of cheesy spell and enchantment combinations that allow you to practically fly across the entire map in seconds.

Fallout 4 was an inflated, boring slog, I powered through that one on sheer defiance.

Never played old Zelda, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games (had no console duh), so can't say anything about those. But the newer entries of all three series have introduced fast travel mechanics.

Also, funny how you first claim there not being fast travel in Morrovind and GTA, and then mention fast travel (the cab IS fast travel) in Morrowing and GTA...
Either you don't know what fast travel is, or you are intentionally lying about things.

Unlike then, the map wasnt one big empty field and you could travel from one end to another in about 10 minutes.

Also, this. Map sizes got so ridiculously inflated over the years.

Given what we know so far of this game's modding potential, I would assume, with a lot of work, the game could be modded in such a way that Lilia is replaced outright with one of those holy knights we discussed earlier, since there's nothing stating the voice actor has to be a woman. Dude could even have a completely different playstyle, among other things.

Its possible that Holy Knights are far far rarer than sisters so they are used to protect key places than the land itself. Or maybe they worship a different god that doesnt have purification while the sisters a goddess that can purify.

Has for why they cannot be together well, ya know. Love and the potential of corruption with it.

My mind in the gutter be thinking the if the holy knight is male fell in love with the sister he was suppose to guard but then got corrupted because of that and got transformed by enemies taking advantage of that. He then takes the sister for himself....

That would be pretty cool, aye. Not sure if the dev would ever feel compelled to put much work in a character that only gets a single mission, though. After all, that mercenary would need her own move set, combat animations, CGs, etc.

Now, if she could roam the land as much as Lilia and had many game overs situations, that he might consider.

Personally, I would have loved to see a consensual relationship between Lilia and a holy knight, only for the latter to end up corrupted and force Lilia to put him out of his misery, or he dies protecting/rescuing her against a big bad she finishes off.

Why are people trying to make the game harder while ignoring consistency with the story?
No debuffs after game over makes sense, YOU LOST. As far as the story is concerned, Leila is fighting right before she starts losing, so why would you suddenly stack unnecessary penalties for the sake of gaming? If anything, make the boss harder by buffing it, or adding more minions in cases like the Demi-human Abomination.

You cannot demand persistent debuffs and then complain about the pregnancy debuff being annoying in your run. I liked the idea of the potions having limited effectiveness because it is consistent with the gameplay and story, but having debuffs just because breaks immersion and sounds like a pointless hard mode for its own sake.

Following that logic, we should have further enlarged breasts as a permanent status with the downside of crawling all the time... let's see you have fun with that.

Hmm. If mana is connected to milk extraction from the breasts, does that mean the male equivalent is semen extraction? lol, imagine encounters with that in mind, though I'd assume most game overs with a male character in this world would just result in gruesome death. Doubtful the Otherworlders are interested in something without a womb anyway...

Well, in many of them men do end up dead after a monster girl squeezes them dry (MGQ, Shrift, etc). And it's usually painful for the guy.
But most of them don't have such grim vibes as Sinisistar games do.

Pity. I prefer grim settings like those in Sinisistar, NoR and LonaRPG... not that I've played much of LonaRPG yet.

dude in your logic intentional death to return to checkpoint is fast travel too.. you need to separate time economy in games via some means like walking on world map in jrpg, transport, mount, cab to a certain immersive locations against just clicking in menu to teleport into any place you want - here in Sinistar its 4 clicks to appear in boss room, compare that to walking through whole level to get to the boss in DarkSouls1

Or they handle cases even worse than this. These abominations can be handled by a nun clearly and the otherworlder hadn’t managed to get into our world yet.

Yet while I mentioned it, I caution anyone interested in Wolf's Dungeon. The scenes in it can be a touch extreme.

Priestess Lust is also a bit tame on the 'dark' side of fantasy. It's also unfinished but it's not abandoned... yet.

And if you want something similarly dark but isn't fantasy, there's always one of my personal favourites...
