This is probably a dumb question but the download links on the original post seem to lead to exe files for sinistar and not zipped files to extract am i doing something wrong? i don't want to run the exe when i dont see anyone else post about this ^^;

I checked all download links, and I see ".zip" at the end of each file on downloading pages.
You have other download link here.

does anyone get an error when extracting the files?
Use "7zip x64" to extract files, as they were packed with 7zip.

Good thing that you didn't immediately run the downloaded EXE and caught on the fact that it was supposed to be a compressed archive. You most likely clicked on one of the ads or one invisible overlay of it that's usually on top of the download button or even the whole page, just so that you click it first. It mostly will make you download something these phishers will tell you are "downloader software", sometimes it's something like a downloader.exe or just straight up the name of the file you want, plus dot EXE.

Literally won't be a problem if you knew exactly what you were trying to download in the first place, which is fortunately what you did.
