I think that the essence is the game is more in the mini-games than in the fight.
It is not really just porn or deep-lore game. It is more a satyric universe. Almost a naughty version of a novel of Terry Pratchett.

I think the naughty Terry Pratchett novel is a really good analogy.

The game's identity and voice comes through very clearly to me. It's a satirical comedy. It takes what is normally a serious setting and genre in high fantasy and turns it into an exaggerated and hypersexual one for comedic effect. Most aspects of the game are delivering jokes in the form of either witty dialogue, puns, or visual gags.

Take the deckbuilding combat. Normally this genre of video game demands a hyper strategic frame of mind. The game subverts that expectation by having you go to a dungeon called Mourning Wood, where you then take your cards with names like Whip It and Whip It Good and use them against enemy roosters called Giant Cocks. The point is less to be a challenging and balanced game but to look and act like one seriously enough that it is a novel context for dirty jokes and puns.

The main character quests for a holy relic and it's a window to watch ladies masturbate. In order to magically shrink an object, he has to jerk off a totem with a tiny dick. There is a strict and demanding religious order whose regular rituals center around sexual spanking. The minigames are filled with ever more creative ways to put dirty imagery and shapes where there is normally none.

Maybe the jokes aren't funny for everyone. I personally enjoy them quite a bit. But whether or not the jokes actually land, or whether the mechanics are enjoyable to interact with, I don't think there should be any confusion about whether this game is taking itself as seriously as Lord of the Rings. It's a comedy more similar to movies like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Spaceballs but in video game form. A movie reference from this century would be the Dungeons and Dragons movie from a couple years ago. This genre is also still completely compatible with character development and romance but it's obviously going to be different in execution and tone from if the setting were more self serious.

The porn aspects of the game also fit pretty naturally into all this. The environment and activities build a light hearted, playful, and overtly sexual atmosphere and then the sex scenes happen as part of the climax and resolution of major story beats.

You're largely spot on :)

I think one of the elements of confusion is that I'm also involved with this game, as well as my own titles (Love of Magic, Morningstar and Wings of Empire). I'm a producer and programmer at flexible, though, not a writer, which is why there's way more a sense of tongue-in-cheek element here than in the games where I do everything.

The fact that there's a combat sequence here is also my fault; I love trying to inject gameplay into games, and I'm a total sucker for rogue-alike deckbuilders. Having said that, there's also the concept of affordance, or "anyone should be able to enjoy the content they enjoy", which is why everything is skippable.

I downloaded and started playing this a few days ago. I really enjoy the game and have completed all the current content with one exception. How does the MC proceed to repair the plumbing in the steam bath? That is the last remaining task. Am I missing something that I should have noticed?

I cant remember exactly cause that is long time ago for me now but i believe there is a panel on the wall before you enter the sanctuary and you just have to disassemble it starting with the screws the i think you have to go to the dungeon and get some kind of flaminia gem to heat the bath.

Thanks. I'll take a look.
It worked. I must have overlooked that thing before. Thanks again.

I like her. She's not my favorite character but I think she's probably the funniest character in this game

Yea I cant stand her in a good way in most of these games the characters dont incite any kind of emotion from me because they are to predictble and bland but her eccentric personality actually makes me laugh and get annoyed by her at the same time. Shes a good character and I like her better then mostly everyone in the game. The only 2 i like more are Izelle and the Fae chick and thats only because I love her design and think she is pretty sexy.

I don't dislike any character but Izelle is probably my least favorite. I don't like her design as much and she doesn't really feel like she has much going on compared to the others. None of the characters in this game really feel bland though or repeative. Even Morwenna and Dawn aren't anything alike aside from being priestesses

Oh, I don't know. I like the horny scientist, her voyeurism and pink below-hair without panties.
But it is true that I don't listen to her when she is speaking all her non-sense and I am always suspicious to ask her anything.

But yes, the game is almost finished and she is the character that evolved the least. Perhaps in a second game with the return of her father.

And I love the priestess because she is the only character truly kinky. Except perhaps Pogg but the orc is more primal than BDSM.

Has this game changed any of its specs/under the hood stuff with the new update? I have a fairly old and almost full PC, still never had an issue with SL yet. But since downloading this latest release, eventually it keeps lagging and freezing nonstop. Never had anything like that happen.

Nothing changed under the hood, no. Still same code, same version of unity, etc.

Tried playing the game again and got to the part where I have to bring Tyra into the mines. The issue is that after dying there once, I can no longer enter the mines with her and it seems like the quest is stuck. Any help?

I think some dialog wasn't tagged as replayable. We've fixed it on Steam's default branch, but it's not implemented on the local version here.

We're nearing up on content complete for Sinners Landing, so this is the last major sale before we exit Early Access. Once the Steam Autumn sale is done, we're also removing the Early Access discount (you have to do that 30 days before leaving early access, so the end is indeed neigh). It's a great bargain right now :)

The goal is to reach 1.0 in ~5 weeks. To do that we need to finish up the final questline (Consecrations, completing Dawn and Morwena's stories), add achievements, repeatable sex and improved tutorials. It'll be a busy month :)

Bit of a general question. I played paradise lust 1 and 2, and am currently playing this (all on mobile). All three seem to randomly crash after playing for around 15 to 20 minutes. I've gotten used to saving every day and quick saving after every interaction, but having it crash while exploring the dungeon has been a bit annoying. Is there anything I can do to help stop the crashing?

It's just android; the device runs out of memory, and the OS will just crash the app with no way to mitigate it. We've done various tricks to try to resolve it (downscaling images, etc), but in the end there's a push-pull thing going on, where people with recent high end android phones want crystal clear graphics, people with 8 year old Shenzhen specials want the game to run anyway, and nobody wants to pay for anything. Android accounts for 90%+ of our platform specific bugs, and close to 0% revenue, so most of the time supporting it feels like a mug's game.

Ah. Thank you for taking the time and explaining. Completely understandable from what you said.

Droid Productions found a bug or unintended issue. Evade, the card that lets you choose two cards from your deck, can soft lock you if you only have one card in your deck as there is no UI to select no more cards. You will be stuck on an empty card selection screen, unable to escape without reloading.
