And then the build ticked over to 1.0, with Consecrations, the story of a broken alter, the Chosen of Flamina and a virgin temple maiden. The game went live on Steam last night, after almost exactly 4 years of work. Hope you like it.
I went searching through our Slack channel, digging up some images from the first days of the project. This piece of art, from Oct 23rd 2021, is the first more or less complete art asset that would eventually make it into the game. Chase (the writer), Sven (lead artist) and I would continue to tinker with the game until we were certain we knew the game we were making, at which point the rest of the team joined us.
All in all it took a team of 10 fulltime developers to complete this, with the first public release October 2023, and 19 updates coming over the next 2+ years.
Sinners Landing is a ginormous game:
- 400k words worth of dialog and another 100k worth of ingame flirting
- 95 multi-panel animated comics, from the epic Trials of Pog to comics leading into almost every sex-scene
- Another 50 animated single-panel 'glamshots', which always feature one of the girls being cute
- 178 minigames, including 50 paintings.
- The combat system features 91 fully animated monsters, 210 cards and 176 scripted combat encounters
All in all it's been one hell of a ride.
So what's next?
While Buck and I deal with fixing any bugs that might still be lingering and dealing with forking the code for Sinners Landing 2, Chase (the main writer) and Sven (the lead artist) are now focusing on Sinners Landing 2. Please give it a wishlist if you can, so Tristan can have a baby dragon!
