Dungeon was a turning point, I agree, but Pam too was a darker departure from previous concepts. Both works were a shift from the earlier “capture and release” motif which had been implied or hinted at up to then, shifting instead toward something more unsettling.
This was probably done in order to prepare us for the appearance of such a concept as the slave market in the stories.
And the fact that everything that happens in the story is not just the antics of two women who are besotted with money and impunity.
Which brings us back to the fact that Sleepy is able to create long stories.
I would argue that Sleepy’s work has always included a built-in ‘reset’ mechanism. Hypnosis and mind control have been part of the lore from the very beginning, contributing to its cartoony and light tone. The things done to Nancy and others never seemed to have lasting consequences — at least within the more playful feel of the earlier works.
That's right, there has always been such a "rollback" concept. But it was an easy narrative. Where the victim didn't have the consequences of playing the Bitch Tandem.
But it is the gradual increasing gloom of the story, coupled with the introduction of an ultimatum "chemical cupid" into the story, which gives the Bitch Tandem even more impunity, that generates the discontent of many readers.
It's frankly unpleasant to look at what's going on, with Pam ...
I understand that Sleepy most likely has a plot move planned for at least the same "country girl".
So everyone's asking who's going to be the next candidate to stand up to the Bitch Tandem, now that Trixie's out?
It seems to me that Sarah Meyers is the perfect candidate to deliver a crushing blow to the center of this whole story.
It's hard to overestimate how angry and motivated she must be right now.
There must be some kind of endgame in her story...
considering that there has been information that the work of "The Monastery" is a prophetic work of what awaits Evelyn in the future. (I'm not sure if this is true)
Locking her up in a monastery for many years.
This story has to end somehow.
P.S.
It's funny by the way, Sleep is constantly fighting for the "Sexiness" of its content.
He even canceled some jobs if it seemed to him that where she was going did not meet this criterion enough.
Moreover, I can say for sure that "to Break a Thief" in my opinion has no "Sexuality" at all. Starting from page 15, it just isn't there.
Wouldn't it happen that after coming off vacation, he would just cancel this job?
Well, or at least rewrite it.
Although I still think that he doesn't need to rewrite anything, it's enough to increase the pace/ dynamics of individual work and everything will return to normal.
He sprayed too many stories at the same time, as a result, the plot moved like a turtle under sedation.
