Regarding the characters' ages, I'm 100% sure it's one big plot hole, of which there are quite a few in Sleepy's "thoughtful and well-constructed" universe. According to the character sheets (first one were posted in 2020 or 2021), I personally never had any questions about them all being adults.

Without going into too much detail, otherwise the post would be too long again, it turns out that Nancy should be 16 at the time of her first adventures, which seems completely outlandish to me. I'm more inclined to believe that Sleepy made a mistake and that Trixie was actually 21 at the time of the TBAT, not 19. (Otherwise, it's a complete mess, which makes the main villains even more repulsive).

I still don't have any questions that they are all adults. But the fact is that Sleepy has retroactively decided to correct all of his inconsistencies and shortcomings, and so far it hasn't been particularly successful. The only ones who truly looked too young were the twins from A Kind of Magic. But that story never been fully developed, which is probably for the best, as Sleepy already has too many flaws and omissions. Although it would have been interesting to see another Selena story.

The same Nancy, the current age of eighteen? Or was it already 18 at the time of the first capture by a Wild Tandem? So her "capture" has been going on for 3 years now...
Probably only Trixie matches her age, but Freddie in general seemed to me 15-16 years old, in his brains, in his behavior
And so on.
It's just that the rules of the platforms have become tougher, so he stuck 18 in everyone and it's fine. There are no more complaints.

Sleepy's characters don't age because Sleepy has no concept of time passing or rather, he doesn't care to think how much time "should" have passed between stories. It is like the Simpsons, 30+ seasons later and still everyone looks exactly the same, despite how many stories and things have happened. Same thing with Nancy forever being 18. The only characters that I recall that made fans question Sleepy with regards to underage is of course the now cancelled "A kind of magic" comic, where the twin sisters were wearing a school uniform but they clearly looked underage and subscribers called Sleepy out on it and Sleepy, regardless whether it was deliberate or not to have drawn them looking so young, pulled the pin on any further development.
