It's somewhat subjective (I think back to that Supreme Court ruling about how you'll know pornography when you see it) but don't you get a different feeling from To Break a Thief than from Roofie Colada? Remember how Country Girl was treated in Meanwhile In The Dungeon? A few years ago he started to introduce BDSM damage-dealing stuff like whips, ass spreaders, electricity and other such things that weren't common in his earlier works, and maybe that represents his darker mindset that he drifted into.
I think a lot of the “darkness“ is really based on the long term consequences for the different victims. The Roofie Colada girl gets to go home and live her life after having a bad experience, maybe dealing with some relationship issues. But from the last few images we see of Pam, it looks like she’s going to be auctioned off and live the rest of her existence as a near mindless animal. As the months go on and on and on, being someone’s trained pet “pig“ is literally a fate worse than death, I’d say.

It’s a pretty stark contrast.

In fact, no matter what Sleepy says about Evelyn's evil nature, she still evokes far more emotion than V. And it's not just that in FV we were shown that she is capable of doubting her actions and still possesses some kind of conscience, but also that if you don't take into account TBAT and a few poll winners, which are largely non-canon in relation to the main story, compared to the completely unrecorded sadist Violet, Evelyn has never shown much cruelty (at least in the early stories), which makes her a very cunning and well-thought-out character. Yes, Evie is certainly a villain and a master of manipulation (it would be foolish to deny that), but to me, she's quite smart and cunning, and simply not as reckless and sadistic as Vi. To be convinced of this, it is enough to take a close look at the comics.

  • Who seduces and drugs the girl at Roofie Colada? - Violet (Evelina, while involved, hardly shows any initiative or dominance).
  • Who sets up and gets Johnson drunk in code? - Violet
  • Who bullies Selena in "Mystery of the Vanished Heires"? - Violet (Evelina, on the other hand, says it's time to end it).
  • Who rapes Nancy in "In Trouble Again"? - Violet
  • Who rapes Nancy in "Nancy Mysteries"? - Violet
  • Who kidnaps and holds Nancy captive in "Like a Thief in the Night"? - Violet (Trixie rapes her)
  • Who rapes and rather brutally fists Nancy in "Day Off"? - Violet
  • Who initiates CG's kidnapping and brutally abuses her in "Meanwhile in Violet's Dungeon"? - Violet
  • Who is obsessed with having her own slaves? - Violet
  • Who seduces, rapes, and deprives Kayla of her home, using a stun gun on her to boot? - Violet
  • Who strangles and abuses Freddy in FV3? - Violet
  • Who quite brutally rapes and strangles Evie in FV6 and Valentine's Day Surprise? - Violet
  • Who strangles Kayla in Valentine's Day Selfies? - Violet
  • Who rapes Freddy in FV7? - Violet (mostly)
  • Who rapes Nancy in TCAT? - Violet
  • Who continues to remotely harass Trixie in TBAT? - Violet
  • And most importantly! Who ruins PAM's life just because she parked in someone else's spot? - Violet
And this only applies to the main comic-book storyline. If you look at one-shots and old poll winners, you'll find plenty of similar situations there, too. What, in these stories, could be said to be as commensurately cruel on Evie's part?
  • In Brood of Evil, she gasses and locks in a dungeon a nameless robber about whom we know nothing and will never know again.
  • In Fled and FV1, she rapes CG, though not as brutally as Violet.
  • In FV6, we learn (but don't see) that she's abusing Leopold. His fate is perhaps more horrific than the CG version, although we don't know and never will.
  • In FV7, she drugs and rapes Freddy.
  • In Seduced Barista, she gets Kayla drunk and fucks her, though not as brutally as Violet.
  • She rapes Nancy during Last Christmas.
  • She kidnaps and begins training Josie, including in a gas chamber.
  • She kidnaps Miss Park and brainwashes her.
  • She creates Chemical Cupid, the Domination Station, and apparently perfects Brainwasher.
  • And most importantly! She brutally tortures Trixie during TBAT and, like Vee, brutally breaks Pam.
I don't deny that Evie is also apparently not quite right in the head, but she is at least a member of the coven, and has been under the influence of her aunt for a long time, which at least explains something about her behavior and actions. It gives her at least some dimension and texture, although we also know nothing about her early years, or what happened to Vi before Back to Rehab. So, this raises another important question: what exactly connects Vi and Evie? What is their friendship like? If you look at it that way, Sleepy hasn't really addressed it in over 10 years. Not how they met, nor how they became friends. We're simply told they're friends, but if you look deeper, it seems they don't even have any particular common interests other than lesbian sex. And yet, judging by everything, one gets the impression that if Evelina had a normal, regular sex partner, she wouldn't have gotten into all this. At least, unlike Vi, she's clearly not against penises. Quite the opposite, in fact. So what, then, could possibly connect these two, essentially completely different personalities?

They vacation together, travel, go to the spa, drink. And... that's all? I've never seen Vi enjoy video games, understand chemistry or programming, or even read books. They don't even watch TV shows together, not to mention they apparently like completely different food. So what's the basis for their interaction and such close connection? Is it that they seduce Nancy time to time and get a thrill out of it? Or is it that they're both so strange and disconnected to the other world that they have no other "friends" besides each other? (Although who's stranger is a big question.) Are they friends, lovers, or do they have some kind of perverted combination of mistress-slave positions?

If, in addition to her sadism, Vi was also a talented manipulator or hypnotist, I could believe that Evie fell under her influence a long time ago and has since been somehow psychologically attached to her (after all, she still experiences their quarrel very strongly, judging by FV3 and FV6) but Vi is such an empty, flat, and mostly generic character that it's hard to believe. It feels like her entire life is endless, even routine, sex with slaves. No friends, no hobbies, no inner demons, no philosophy, not even an ultimate goal. The character's entire essence boils down to the ironic, "Why not?" And the most frustrating thing is that the deeper you delve into this story, the more questions arise and the fewer answers we get, because it's much easier to draw beautiful and passionate but completely unrelated pictures than to construct a coherent and thoughtful story.

On the other hand, even in such "routine" approach, we can find some sort of pattern. A growing level of permissiveness. First, the usual alcohol, then chloroform, then drugs, then the first slave, followed by several more. Unhealthy sadism with electric shocks, strangulation, brainwashing, gas chambers, crypt cages, and, ultimately, an entire auction selling not just slaves, but essentially morally and physically broken girls with no will or memory, some of whom no one will even look for. And with such a development, the logical outcome is essentially self-evident — the death of one of the characters, something Sleepy, for obvious reasons, won't agree to. The conclusion is stagnation, where the bar can't be lowered, but the emotional intensity can't be raised either. And how Sleepy plans to get out of this is unclear. Apparently, he doesn't have one. Therefore, we're likely in for an extremely strange and controversial ending to the saga. Of course, I'd be very, very wrong, and I hope that despite the crisis, Sleepy will still add depth, nuance, and explanation to this story, since he did eventually undertake to build a coherent universe from these puzzle pieces. I'd like to believe he has a clear plan for how it all should ultimately play out. The question is whether we will live to see this finale or Sleepy will go on vacation once again and never return.

That’s a really good breakdown of things. We know that Evi was raised to be a monster from childhood, but I’ve always wondered about what Violet was like before meeting Evi. it definitely seems like they both feed off each other, and are probably both much worse people because of their relationship. It was, after all, Violet who pushed Evi into abducting Country Girl in the long term. And on the other hand, it wasn’t Violet who kidnapped Pam and faked her death. It was Evie. She said she did it for Violet of course, but knowing how manipulative Evie is, she certainly seemed to get a lot of enjoyment out of watching Violet do much of the ”dirty work”. We’ll never get to see it now, but I‘d have loved to have got a glimpse of Violet before their friendship, just to see how much of the sadism Evi cultivated in her.
There is no comic dedicated to this.
But enough "bread crumbs":

Here they are. These "bread crumbs"...
Also, I think when we see Pam And Mrs Park here, they were basically packaged up and ready to be shipped off to their perspective buyers.

Another good question concerns the kidnappings. Or, more specifically, why almost no one exept Nancy talks about the missing girls. Well, when Gillean disappeared, the local newspaper reported on the case. After all, she's the heir to the MacCallister Foundation. It would be strange if this incident didn't receive publicity. When Nancy occasionally disappeared, the newspapers certainly didn't report it, but her portrait was printed on milk cartons, which is a fairly common practice. This is understandable too — Nancy is the daughter of a well-known, wealthy lawyer, and her disappearances would not have gone unnoticed. Sarah Meyers' disappearance has also been discussed in several articles. It's strange that her photo wasn't broadcast on the airship's screen, but apparently Sarah isn't so significant that such equipment would warrant searching for her.

Things aren't so clear-cut with Pam. On the one hand, even Evie says no one will look for her because it was a staged accident, judging by the presence of a manager, a fancy car, and a fancy license plate, we might assume Pam isn't just some random country bumpkin, but perhaps a fairly wealthy and well-known model, blogger, or someone of that ilk. Perhaps no one will really look for her, but the absence of a body could very well give journalists or relatives some ideas.

Things are much more interesting with Trixie, Josie, and Miss Park. They all attend the same university (as do Gillean and Nancy). If we assume the events of the Halloween party are canon, it follows that four girls who knew each other and also attended the same university either disappeared or suddenly vanished around the same time, and for some reason, no one really cares about it. And okay, in Trixie's case, Evelina said she simply ran away and didn't show up for class, but how were they going to explain Josie's disappearance, who apparently just enrolled at CHU and suddenly vanished just a couple of months later for no apparent reason? Let's assume that some of the CHU students are orphans, and perhaps there's simply no one to look for them (after all, we don't know if anyone else has ever disappeared). But overall, this assumption, in my opinion, doesn't really fit with elite status of CHU. It's unlikely that a typical university would be housed in a building with a clock tower and shaped like an ancient castle. CHU is certainly an extremely prestigious university, perhaps one of the best in the state, where it wouldn't accept just anyone. (We'll leave the question of Evelina's admissions committee's competence without comment)

But even if we ignore the corruption in Crystal Heights (the Le Fey family is probably one of the most important people in town), how was Evie going to explain the disappearance of Ms. Park, who, mind you, isn't just any exchange student, but a rather brilliant exchange student? It's one thing to pull the wool over Nancy's eyes and say that Ms. Park really did fly back to Korea and it's quite another to explain this not only to CHU management but also to the management of the university with which the exchange took place. And it doesn't matter whether that university was in another country or another state. Typically, such students are closely monitored, entered into a database, and given permission and notifications. I don't think that if someone arrives for exchange and then suddenly disappears, the Koreans would suddenly stop caring about their student's fate.

Of course, it's possible that Evie and Vi, are simply skating on very thin ice, hoping for possible corruption system or some potential serious connections of the Tea Club (about which, again, we know nothing). But I'm more inclined to think that I'm asking too much of a porn comic, and that Sleepy probably just forgot about such nuances and details. Incidentally, by the end, Sleepy also seems to have abandoned Nancy's detective role, leaving behind only the title. While in the early stories the blonde still investigated and searched for something, over time, that was reduced to a couple of rare shots on her board at most. It is unclear whether there was any point in making her a deactivator in this case, if with the help of hypnosis and chloroform bitch tandem could simply “have fun” with her from time to time.

What can I say: my respects to you!
With just 2 posts, you compiled everything I've been talking about since the days of 8Muses!

I laughed out loud at the idea that Violet is so undiscovered as a character that all this is her "hot time"...
it's basically a routine for her... Ha ha ha!
Interesting: what is her method of relieving stress from this "routine"?

Yes, I remember I had an idea that Violet was Evelyn's "home project"...
After Evelyn returned from a teenage rebellion (Bikes n Babes), Carmilla gave her a task: to make a "friend" ...
The choice fell on Violet.

But what! It would be an idea for the end of the universe!
Evelyn sprays chemicals, says a code word, and... Violet "wakes up"... remembering everything she's been doing for the last 4 years!
Although, in the end, it seems to me that a "good" ending for her would be to appear in the same prison cell that Nancy was in.
With the same dark-skinned "girlfriends".

In general, thank you!
It's nice to see that someone is also trying to probe the "path of logic" in this "just a porn comic."

The LeFey family is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious in Crystal Heights, which is why Evilina, despite her young age, is a professor at CHU.
Thanks to her work as a consultant, she can easily cover up the disappearances of students, not to mention that with her drugs and hypnosis, she can induce the missing to leave reassuring messages for family and friends.
As for Miss Park, it's easy to assume that Evie has made it appear that she's conducting experiments on a very ambitious project, and the shame of that project's failure is likely the reason she decided to drop out of school and disappear.

By the way, since there aren't any new leaks expected yet, and I've mentioned Nancy's first adventures once again, I'd like to share with you one old, but still cool stuff: a full-color, no-text version of Nancy Templeton - In Trouble Again. I'm not sure that most of the forum participants are interested in this at all, as always, it will be useful for someone's collection. Perhaps, in time, it will be possible to collect all of Nancy's first stories in color. For anyone who's still unsure, please check out this one of Nafany's posts to see that he only posted the text versions.

P.s. For those who wondering where the page 3 disappeared to, the answer is ridiculously simple: Sleepy lost the PSD files for that page, so here's what we have.

You know... And you're just a treasure trove of information for me!
I never noticed that there is no third page in the English-language color version!
Just now, when we talked about it, I went to check my collection, and really!
Which is in the text version, which is without the text version, in both cases there is no third page!
That's what I'm not paying attention to...

Ahhh it's good to see my handy work from many years ago. This comic originally came out with a film grain filter on it. I used to have the psd's for it and removed the film grain effect to leave it in its full colour look and posted it on the ol' 8muses forum. I also did this for "Vanished Heiress" and "Girl detective no more" which was the last comic that Sleepy used the film grain filter on the comics.

It was :) I also used to post some stuff on 8muses when I still had processing files. Mostly text-less versions. But, that was so long ago that most of the members of this forum don't even remember those bygone events. However, since that's the case, perhaps you still have the PSD files for Night of the Living Dolls or Mystery of the White Phantom and may share it? Because as far as I remember, full-color versions of those two comics (and textless version of the first one) were never posted during the 8muses era. Maybe just a few individual pages. In any case, after so many years, color versions of Night of the Living Dolls or Mystery of the White Phantom have never been published anywhere. However, I admit the possibility that my information is out of date.

Never had the psd's for living dolls or white phantom. Only the 3 comics i mentioned and then i lost them at some point after i modified and posted the non film grain version of the comics. :(
