You don't need to, it can be even better for immersion since MC lost his memories about that game but I highly recommend it because it really helps to have better grasp of the story and it was a fricking good game.

Finished the update and I did enjoy it (despite the raid part hugely overlapping between all 3 clans routes. Wish there were more variance between each of them but it is what it is).

And for this update, I did quite like the slow panning of the "camera" angle.

By the way, GleenXstudio will not being able to save Fate (braid-haired girl in Jarl Harek's village) result in significant story consequences in the future?
In all three of my playthroughs (Wolves, Bears, Ravens), I failed to pass the intelligence test (I play the game without cheats, so for Wolves & Ravens, my stats are str 15 dex 12 int 13, whereas for Bears they are str 14 dex 14 int 12).
Apparently 13 isn't enough and I guess 14 is the passing number (like for str and dex).

Ngl, it is getting a bit tricky to make balanced builds trying to satisfy all the tests (some ending up succeeding, some failing).


As for the story itself, with Ravens route, I'm guessing Katja cooked up a BS story about "foiling the raid" in order to fool the MC who was insistent on seeing Nox (given Nox's genuine surprised reaction).
Makes me wonder what sort of punishment is awaiting for our little Raven (from Nox) when she returns from the raid.

In both my playthroughs with the ravens and the wolves I have 14 intelligence and am able to save fate. Only with the bears that I don't have 14 intelligence and I don't know if it is possible cause I didn't try to get it.

I agree that trying to satisfy the tests can be tricky. I also quite frequently disagree with game writers' reasonings and ethics, and hate them for causalities that for me are clearly invalid or not likely. Single dialogue options determining the overall fate of stories is a very flawed system but I guess at least they are useful tool for making, poorly imo, branching narratives.

Yeah, no...
"Vikings", or old Norse (no that does NOT mean Norwegian, but all Norse people) as they're actually called, did NOT have harems. They were, just like today, mostly monogamous.
Try taking information about history from actual historians, not bad movies and TV shows or shoddy books and (otherwise good) games.

That said, this is a fantasy setting. Devs can do whatever they wish^^ And I'll most likely like it.

Since I went through the trouble of bringing it up to date for my Android port and all. I'm not 100% sure I caught every little nuance of the game, so if there is something that you think I missed please let me know.

The narrative isn't really branching in most cases, though. Especially failing skill checks just means you're going to miss the content/relationship point with no alternative path. This only means that you absolutely have to minmax and exploit the quicksave with no room for roleplaying (or use a cheat mod).
This will only get more and more frustrating, because you'll miss more and more content, if you didn't minmax from the start.

Yes but we are getting it as it develops so it is hard to fault the dev for it. He has changed a lot of things along development. It was worse, is what I'm trying to say lol.

You can max Candrid with the console (shift + O [the letter, not the number]), if i'm not mistaking it's : c_story = **, to be sure check the variable in the console.

I already looked at the variables (that's why i know i got 1 affinity point from the 2 needed). Sure i could bypass it, i just want to know what scene the other point is attached to.

You can only do that if you are a BB, others clans don't have this choice.
When meeting Yulla at the harbor, you have to choose "I'm changing the deal" and then go through it till the end. Be careful, if you have 3 affinity points with Yrsa, she will caught you in the act and will not be happy about it.

a high tech vikings where computer geeks are at the top of power-pyramide

considering its medieval viking settings, nothing wrong there atm id say.
though im sure int will play more prominent role a bt later, as dex/str cant go that far on their own.

some parts could be better, for sure, yet calling it "horrible game design" is a bit overly r,ude imo.
as i have said above, and youve ignored, there is enough in-game time for the stats to work differently, so now hardly would be a proper time for similar judgments.
unless ofc those are coming from "omg, why paths, why not simple kn fuckfest harem" crowd.
if you belong to those, pleased do go on with those complains, thats kinda a tradition in f95z plains
