We can't fault the game for being ambitious. 3 Different factions with 3 different characters each and a reshuffle between the former and the latter that scrambles everything up, leading to a nasty number of permutations. And then you get playthroughs like mine, where you go for Katja for a number of updates up to a point where the game simply goes "Fuck you, your choices are either Candrid or Game Over". How does this make any sense? It's like turning on Cartoon Network and getting 5 minutes of cartoons and then a porno, or switching over to the porn channel and getting a music video or even switching to MTV and getting... a music video, I suppose.

It's all fine being ambitious but you have to carry it through and pay off the choices you give the player. Because either I messed up on my end (and the points would suggest I didn't) or this a case of biting off more than you can chew, which I'm hoping won't spread to the other factions in a style of "Oh, you went for Yrsa? Guess what- you get Nox, now fuck off."

Yes we can and yes I will. The less pathing in a game the better, I shouldn't have to play through 83 different times just to see every scene. This game handles it in quite possibly the worst way conceivable. A 525 render update, which is already rather short by a lot of game's standards, split between 3 separate paths. Also means a rather massive amount of coding is needed for what's essentially a short update.
As for you you fucked up somewhere along the way. You get Katja's path by not competing in the big fight at all and defecting to the Ravens.

I haven't played the latest update yet, but there was a few coding problems with the update before that, particularly with suddenly being on Lizgard path if you weren't, and Astrid talking about sex stuff that never happened. I hope they've been fixed. With it getting more and more intricate, I have a fear that there's going to be more cross-jumping of paths.

I might be misremembering, I don't have the game installed right now, and I don't care to download it for the shitty bears update, but wasn't Katja the redhead with a kid? She defects to the ravens. According to the changelog you need to go from bears to ravens to get content with her for this update. You should really read the changelog anyway, it explains that the BB path is Cadrid content and the Katja content is for when you switch from BB to DR.

Therefore, to explore the new content, you must continue from the Bloody Bears path, siding with Candrid. Or continue the Dark Ravens path, siding with Katja.

Either way it seems to me that you actually do have a problem with the game being overly ambitious with its pathing if you can't even find the path you want to play.

No, the path I was on was the right one, the game just arbitrarily decided that the path now changed to another character's, one I have no interest in. It's not about ambition. If the game promises 30 different paths with 30 different LIs, so long as it delivers, I won't fault it. If on the other hand it promises 2 and only delivers 1, I will, since it's essentially lying to the player.

Ed- And just so I'm not misunderstood, since it seems not everyone is playing the update- If you're on the Katja/outcasts path you get: 1) a threesome with Katja and Candrid; 2) married to Candrid (or a game over); 3) 2 sex scenes with Candrid; and 4) the rule over the Bears. With Candrid. It's asinine. I could give a shit about Candrid, I was not on her path. The single point I had on her (as compared with the 6 on Katja) should be evidence enough. But "computer says noooo".

I'm not sure I'm gonna play another update again personally. I got lured in by the harem tag only to find out that harem is a lie and you only get it in the most shit path the dev could come up with. Honestly I usually get annoyed when people use this term but fuck shitty fake harems. The convoluted pathing is just the icing on the shit cake.

You can have mini-harem on BB path and on WW path probably you can have 2 sisters (Astrja/Astrid).
If you're expecting to collect all the girls here then it's tough luck for you.
Especially when it comes to main girls from each path (Candrid, Astrja, Nox) - they are mutually exclusive.
