Damn... The plot is so good. Only if the language stuff wasn't outright BS ..
The dev should know that English in 1000s wasn't really like it is now, I mean it's nowhere near close to current English.
But he went back to the past and those Norse understood him anyway... Funniest point came when he could even read and write in that English.. Funny what ignorance can make people believe and do..
Better have kept the complete language barrier like it was at first...

well, luckily there are gods, demigods and all other rl things to strengthen our playing experience and to put this game back on reality track, at least a bit...

I know this is a sequel to Sandstorm, but is right after the ending (going through the portal to run from the sandstorm) or some time after that ending?

Nope, unless you count MC's dream which are literally just very brief flashback scenes from Sandstorm (so nothing new).

SnowStorm continues directly from the three endings where the MC enters the portal with Maddie or Nora or Rion(bestgirl)
Dev said that if you make the right choices there should be an ending where you reunite with your Sandstorm LI

So, IIRC only Astrja, Nox and Candrid will get true "endings", and the rest of Snowstorm's girls will be somewhat "included" in one of these paths.
