It looks like Astrid borrowed the sword from Yrsa. After all, if they encounter any enemies, Yrsa will still have to assist her.
Apparently, the game developer may be planning a side relationship with Elskorla, but based on the completion of the game and the current development of this side relationship, it seems that this is quite unlikely.

Finally got around to starting this game. After just finishing all endings of Sandstorm. Any way for the old heroines to return in future updates? I already miss maddie a lot. and of course I chose maddie when starting my playthrough, Feels so Sad that their story ended just like that while trapped in snow. GOD Please bring maddie back.

You don't need to play the first game. It's enough to pick one of the names from the previous game at the beginning of this game and you can play it without any problems.
