Haven't played the game, just browsed thread, looking at art. Wanted to express my opinion on picture aspect alone. On technical level, I like the idea of enhancing renders by AI pass a lot (I have some knowledge about 3d rendering techniques from both game and DAZ, not so much about post-processing/AI). And results seems very promising. But as seen on the front page of this thread and very nicely shown on the pic quoted above, I find that the end result is missing the mark by overdoing the good stuff. Someone else said as feedback that the girl looks like too much makeup, but I disagree, rather too little or bad one. It is too much detail, too harsh lines, veins and muscle lines and skin detail/age marks, something makeup is usually made to tone/hide. There are pictures here are there with softer light that look quite appealing, but most look too harsh, even if scene suggest softer lighting like on picture above. It's almost cell shaded effect (not quite), where all the details are drawn with black outline to make it imitate pencil work art. So lets just call it oversharpened.

Daz render looks awful in your comparison. Daz can do much better. Expression and lighting are comically bad in every comparison pic I have seen so far (maybe it is enough for your workflow, but still, man wonders what can be done with decent renders). But the kicker is #1 look best for me. The Harshness I was talking about is not yet present in this one, it seems to be added by hand in photoshop in #2. Is making her (and most characters in game as seen on other screens) look so much older and weathered your intention? Clearly, tastes come to play here as well. But in comparison, #1 in already adding all the lovely detailed look to the body and face, with appropriate softens to make it appealing/alluring.

AI/ML seems to me both exciting in what can it do and disappointing how poorly it seems to be serving storytelling because of lack of consistency, and your (and one or two similar projects) approach and technique seems most promising so far.

I have been learning about DAZ for a while. Not an expert, but I have some grasp of possibilities and difficulties. Your technique does seem to offer some existing enhancements. Learning photoshop from scratch (and paying subscription) not in my time/money budget for now, and frankly doesn't seem that exciting. I have more superhero/SF renders in mind and special/particle effects, like energy beams, power shields and explosions is something I haven't seen done well in DAZ (they added VDB support, but libraries are limited) so I'm wondering if to your knowledge is it something that can be done by AI (enhanced I mean, adding simple emissive beam in DAZ is not a problem, it just doesn't look any good, especially compared to all this lovely characters, costumes and locations)? Anyway, mostly giving my 2 cents of feedback, but if you could give me some pointer to where to start learning about AI technique similar to yours, I would be grateful I mean not from text prompt, as most like to be, but from mostly done picture with text prompts to modify it. Should I start with Stable Diffusion (from my googling it is best offline one and free)?
mate so first you are correct our initial daz renders could be better and this is where our growth is pretty obvious from episode 1 to 2, by skimming the thread you are missing a lot, like what we did with animations, game design, videos etc.

We don’t share our ai workflow because it took us a while to perfect, it’s multiple tools and it’s comparing it to other ai games you can see the differences, look at fingers, details that should not be there etc, we will not disclose how we do our polish as it’s one of our secret sauce,

We do actually do a lot with Photoshop it’s final stage of the game after rendering > ai #1 > ai #2 and photosohop for color correction and small detail checks

You know if you aren't blocking this VN with your firewall it is spying on you. It constantly connects to google analytics. The VN even has an secret app ID besides the Google ID and it is enabled by default. Looks like the VN use to tell you about it and give you the option to disable or enable it but that was removed.

Also if you block it in your firewall like I was doing it slows the UI to a crawl. It was taking 2 minutes just to load the game and then starting the game or making a save or opening the preferences or closing them or closing the save screen was taking a minute to do every time I opened or closed it. Which was caused by blocking the analytics connecting to the internet.

You can turn off the analytics by entering in the console: persistent.analytics = False

there’s nothing secret in our game, renpy is python based solution and telemetry collection is very limited, we have implemented event collection to see what content is the most successful, only in the free version, read the code in each day and you will see the events, we don’t collect any location, os or any kind of other information just how many times d5_coffee is loaded or what is the most successful slut scene etc.

Any great product is built with telemetry, I am sure 99% of websites use google analytics to understand and make their offering better

before you also use the word spying, check your statements…understanding what is the most successful scene isn’t spying, the paid version doesn’t collect telemetry because we run extensive polls with our payed users

I could be wrong but it looks like you're using Daz characters mixed with an AI post production workflow?
you aren’t wrong but it’s not just Daz, episode 2 is Blender and we have always stated that and even showed examples of the ai double pass on images

somehow you managed to make her look 20years older in later releases - and all pimpeded up.
she looked WAY better at the start.
now, in some shots, she looks like a woman in her fifties - with a lot of cosmetic surgery.
not my cup of tea but I guess some will like it...
anyhow, you narrowed your target audience.

play the game and episode 2 and then come back for more feedback:)
Usually not the biggest fan of Fem MC porn games. I have a strong predisposition to identify with MC, and making all this horrible decisions feels awful. Like them for the aspect of corruption, degradation, somehow games with fem MCs go much further in this aspect than most male led ones, but I would like to find one that bridges the gap, of having some other characters that is manipulating/controlling main woman to make stupid decisions as driver of my player agency.
But I try one every now and then. I might try yours, because it is interesting from a technological standpoint.
Or I just might DL it and unpack pictures.
Daz doesn’t hold a candle to blender
In rendering technology standpoint you are right from what I know. It is the most widely adopted semi-professional 3d rendering program. And there are plugins for particle effects and other VFX that seem very difficult to use but amazingly promising in results. But as a decently accessible yet quite powerful framework to play with characters, poses, costumes, expressions with widely accepted standards like subsequent generations of Genesis/Victoria line, I figure there is good reason that DAZ is such a popular tool for the render of character driven stories, especially porn ones. I already downloaded quite the library, I mostly like what it can do character wise (with good lighting and models Iray is quite potent render engine). But it has, for my purpose, some major weak spots, like vfx.
stable diffusion is your best bet but it takes time to get good at it
Thanks

I acknowledge that. If I was younger and have more spare time, I might read the whole thread start to finish and track the evolution, it might actually be fun and interesting experience for me. But there are too many sub discussions in every thread on this forum, I don't follow that closely even games I've been quite regularly playing. As I said, I like a lot of what you are doing and hope that similar techniques will be developed further and be more accessible. I actually would love some kind of prompt AI inside DAZ, to shape rendering in 3d environment with more flexibility. But I know it is a tall order, it would be difficult to integrate with how things are working under the hood.

Sure man. I wish you, that your effort will be profitable enough to be able to develop your technique further. I watched some tutorials for DAZ and was looking for ones on AI post-processing and so far it was difficult to find good info, even where to start. So your confirmation that Stable Diffusion is at last part of it is enough help. Thank you for engaging, it is appreciated and not taken for granted (y)

In picture, I was quoting/responding, hope I can make it show here for better context:

My problem (to repeat, sorry) was with the final picture. Not with #1 but with #2 and similar effect is in most of your screens. And from what I seen it includes more recent ones. It is still oversharpened, too much detail was added, existing was overexaggerated that make charters look old and too weathered, not that hot on woman. It might be intended, it might be the look you are going for, but it is what makes them much less attractive in my eyes. The dress look sooooo much better and vibrant with highlights, clearly enhanced dynamic range.

Not playing it because female mc but i really liked the previews, specially the 2nd and 3rd. Great Milf model.
The AI post step makes the faces look uncommon and really hot, which is a blessing considering 95% of devs use the same faces and models over and over again. I like the semi-realistic look they end up with, and making the renders look less plastic doll and closer to reality.
Looking forward for a male mc game from you.
Good luck.

I'll check the renders with unren. Waiting for rpdl since I prefer torrents.
But no, it is NOT about hair color, this is what I (and from what I see others) are trying to express. Ciri or Storm can 100% look young with white hair.
NoMansMind posted this picture:

And the first question is: is he right that this is the same character? It's starting to get confusing. Not sultry MC on the left and her crazy grandmother on the right? Because on the left we have maybe too perfect alabaster skin (too much makeup look?), and breast little to gravity defying to be real, but it is HOT AF. All the lines added around eyes and mouth, all the blemishes on the skin, make the character on the right look so much older, sickly and not appealing.

Grandmother? Sickly? Boy you need to go outside. Yes, the character on the right does look older, but your description is completely delusional.

yeah mc and the quality has gone down...it's kinda funny to see so many reactions yet.. the actual support that came was one guy looking for an android build and we wonder why game developers stop games? :))

i am gonna focus on other things, you guys go ahead and continue the conversation without me and feel free to create a better game with better renders :)
