Gonna respond to some of the feedback/questions here, thanks for playing, everyone!
Probably not the greatest idea to hide the arena mode. No idea where to access this new content after its been added. It sounds like something that should just be in the camp before you start but I guess it's somewhere else? Anyway, its as fun as it's always been, it would be just be nice if devs didn't hide their work behind some esoteric minigame inside of the game, just let people access the content.
it unlocks when the prerequisites for earning the imp cup has been met, basically you have to catch 8 monsters. The arena mode is fueled by what you've caught, not sure what you mean by "esoteric minigame inside of the game" unless you refer to using net spells to capture enemies as an esoteric mini game.
Or unless you're referring to catching the spell stone in Fuu's tent as an esoteric minigame.
Maybe I'll tip the player off to catching the spell stone in a future update if that's the one you are talking about.
I like having secrets scattered everywhere, it's something i feel like lots of games don't have enough of.
this is a roguelite and not a roguelike. and so you know, all roguelikes are rpgs, it's the name of an rpg subgenre, so that would be redundant. label your game properly and you'll get less confusion when selling it.
Balatro isn't an RPG and is a roguelike, it's not redundant at all. Enter the gungeon isn't an RPG either.
The arena is kind of broken, especially with the arachnets - if they're the only enemy you choose, you have no choice but to exit to main menu or quit the game because you can never really lose due to them basically never doing any damage unless you attak, which means even if you get lucky and get 2 girls to lose by 'cheating' and losing hp intentionally with skills, the last one will be stuck forever after getting one turn to act and getting entrapped after that without a chance to lose because all hp will regenerate by the time all the turns she was entrapped for pass.
And yeah, the fact the entrapment status stacks indefinitely (? i got only up to 40 for 2 heroines, and 103 for one at which point the game crashed, guess this should have been be capped..?) and how LONG it takes for the animation of webbing for each arachnet to finish (can you please cut it at least by half?) means the game's basically can be be 'stuck' for minutes, maybe TENS of minutes waiting for it all to play out, without the ability to end the fight and cash out anyway.
Meanwhile some enemies are way too weak and you can grind points indefinitely way too easily (say grubs). Overall, it would be nice to have an 'auto lose' spell, at least in the arena as an automatic spell available on all heroines, tho would be useful in the normal game too. Also, action time slider in options doesn't work for extending the time a picture is on screen for some of the actions. Moving for enemies also still takes too long, making each turn take way too long, especially if there's many enemies, unlocking gallery scenes doesn't work if you got said scene on the same turn as you've been defeated. Overall the addition of the arena is pretty good but even with it unlocking all the gallery takes a ridiculously long amount of time.
Also think my save got corrupted because moving between the versions some enemies disappeared from the book and even if i re-capture them they don't return. That's about all i've found... So far.
Addressing the first 3 paragraphs, there's no arena reward for just fighting Arachnets, so that's a you problem and not a me problem, there would be nothing to "cash out" on in the first place. Also I'm pretty sure Grubs are disabled for Arena mode, maybe i'm wrong.
Yeah the corrupted demonicon reset bug happened to me too, we haven't figured out where it is yet, but for me it happened on the mushroom level twice. And then sometimes it brings it back. Anyways, we're aware of it, thanks for reporting it, if you remember anything specific about when it happened please tell us.
Make an easy mode for the mentally challenged like me
Easy mode is using the trumpet of disarray spell every 8 turns.
Ya, I've tried the game a few times, but suck at it, so have never finished a run. I always get overwhelmed, and with it being rougue-whatever, it feels very unrewarding. Also, seeing the girls being captured and violated always sucks because each one is needed to fight the waves, but the entire reason I play is because it is an h-game. I'd like to experience more content than I am able to.
The woes of an incompetent player!
Dunno if you knew this but sex gives you a double damage boost if you save the heroines. The sex actually works to your benefit if you strategize around it. Anyways, use the trumpet of disarray spell if you want the game to be easier.
which one do you guys think is best girl? for me im stuck between liking the warrior and the ninja the most, but ultimately i think it goes to the ninja, i really like the idea that she's the narrator and is now being drug along into the game, its a funny character trait! also her body is absolutely smokin, lets be real, im also curious what trongles fav is, anyway im about to try the new update and im really excited! see ya after i try it!
My favorite player character is Archer/Huntress. I like monster girls. Originally I'd wanted to do the whole party was monster girls (long story, but basically the original coder i'd teamed up with had said he didn't like monster girls, then we lost contact and i made the game with Cardinal instead). I also like swordswoman because the mystery of her helmet is really fun and makes her really cute. Ninja is a baddie, but she's the most popular by far and is also the most basic and boring character design of the 3 to me, so I like her the least.
Anyone know how to unlock the Arena? I've captured 2 monsters like she asked but now she tells me to check back later
Catch 8 unique monsters in your book and then you should be able to play the arena mode.
