It's been a while since I said something on this thread but I have a few questions: Is the game close to being finished? Are you planning to add more things after it's done(like a dlc)? When would I be able to buy it on steam?

I like to be as transparant about development as i possibly can, so I'll try to answer these for you.
Please keep in mind I don't have 100% of our development planned out at this time, and sometimes plans will change, but i can give you the current plan at the time of me writing this.

Q: Is the game close to being finished?

A: Not really, we've just finished floor two. Each run will have 3 floors. Preferably I'd like the game to still have more than 3 floors for the sake of run variety, you'd just only do 3 of them per run. I'm aiming for 5 or 6 main floors of the game with possibly some hidden or secret floors as well. To me the ideal state of being close to done is when we have 6 floors made.

-Also, there's a lot of story content I've been working on in secret, I was originally planning on implementing lots of this in between floors 2 and 3, but after giving it a lot of thought it makes more sense to implement it after a run can be completed.

Q: Are you planning to add more things after it's done? (like a DLC)

A: While we are a team of more than just me, my personal opinion is that games shouldn't be sold until they are complete. That's what i'd like to do as long as circumstances permit us to. However if a financial crisis or something happened to the team, that might force us to release into early access, but i'd strongly prefer not to do that. I don't want to sell an unfinished product. I'm not really thinking about DLC right now because the scope of the main game is already big enough and i'm going to focus on that. Maybe it's possible I could add some DLC in the future but i don't want to think about that any time soon.

Q: When would I be able to buy it on steam?

A: Due to us being not really close to finished I'll say I just have no idea here. I can't estimate that far out and I try my best not to. So yeah, my answer to this one is that I just don't know.

Thanks for asking!

I, for one can't wait for it to release on Steam. I'm in one of these places where people don't like credit cards and use mostly debit cards and Patreon removed the option for debit card a while back.

Are you sure about that?
Because unless something changed in the past month, I’ve been using a debit card this whole time. And the only info I’m seeing online about this are about prepaid cards (which are a different thing than debit cards) on a 6 year old Reddit post.
it probably says “credit card” on the website but still allows you to enter a debit card.

Probably not the greatest idea to hide the arena mode. No idea where to access this new content after its been added. It sounds like something that should just be in the camp before you start but I guess it's somewhere else? Anyway, its as fun as it's always been, it would be just be nice if devs didn't hide their work behind some esoteric minigame inside of the game, just let people access the content.

rogue-like rpg
this is a roguelite and not a roguelike. and so you know, all roguelikes are rpgs, it's the name of an rpg subgenre, so that would be redundant. label your game properly and you'll get less confusion when selling it.

The arena is kind of broken, especially with the arachnets - if they're the only enemy you choose, you have no choice but to exit to main menu or quit the game because you can never really lose due to them basically never doing any damage unless you attak, which means even if you get lucky and get 2 girls to lose by 'cheating' and losing hp intentionally with skills, the last one will be stuck forever after getting one turn to act and getting entrapped after that without a chance to lose because all hp will regenerate by the time all the turns she was entrapped for pass.

And yeah, the fact the entrapment status stacks indefinitely (? i got only up to 40 for 2 heroines, and 103 for one at which point the game crashed, guess this should have been be capped..?) and how LONG it takes for the animation of webbing for each arachnet to finish (can you please cut it at least by half?) means the game's basically can be be 'stuck' for minutes, maybe TENS of minutes waiting for it all to play out, without the ability to end the fight and cash out anyway.

Meanwhile some enemies are way too weak and you can grind points indefinitely way too easily (say grubs). Overall, it would be nice to have an 'auto lose' spell, at least in the arena as an automatic spell available on all heroines, tho would be useful in the normal game too. Also, action time slider in options doesn't work for extending the time a picture is on screen for some of the actions. Moving for enemies also still takes too long, making each turn take way too long, especially if there's many enemies, unlocking gallery scenes doesn't work if you got said scene on the same turn as you've been defeated. Overall the addition of the arena is pretty good but even with it unlocking all the gallery takes a ridiculously long amount of time.

Also think my save got corrupted because moving between the versions some enemies disappeared from the book and even if i re-capture them they don't return. That's about all i've found... So far.

Ya, I've tried the game a few times, but suck at it, so have never finished a run. I always get overwhelmed, and with it being rougue-whatever, it feels very unrewarding. Also, seeing the girls being captured and violated always sucks because each one is needed to fight the waves, but the entire reason I play is because it is an h-game. I'd like to experience more content than I am able to.

Huntress, easily. The way she gets so excited about eating the monsters and trying to find other people who shares that interest. Plus the way she's part everything and feels the need to say it at every opportunity. Also my favourite from a gameplay aspect; while Ninja's hook drag ability is good Huntress has tripwires, beartraps, and a couple other neat abilities that really mesh well for me

Gonna respond to some of the feedback/questions here, thanks for playing, everyone!

it unlocks when the prerequisites for earning the imp cup has been met, basically you have to catch 8 monsters. The arena mode is fueled by what you've caught, not sure what you mean by "esoteric minigame inside of the game" unless you refer to using net spells to capture enemies as an esoteric mini game.
Or unless you're referring to catching the spell stone in Fuu's tent as an esoteric minigame.
Maybe I'll tip the player off to catching the spell stone in a future update if that's the one you are talking about.
I like having secrets scattered everywhere, it's something i feel like lots of games don't have enough of.

Balatro isn't an RPG and is a roguelike, it's not redundant at all. Enter the gungeon isn't an RPG either.

Addressing the first 3 paragraphs, there's no arena reward for just fighting Arachnets, so that's a you problem and not a me problem, there would be nothing to "cash out" on in the first place. Also I'm pretty sure Grubs are disabled for Arena mode, maybe i'm wrong.

Yeah the corrupted demonicon reset bug happened to me too, we haven't figured out where it is yet, but for me it happened on the mushroom level twice. And then sometimes it brings it back. Anyways, we're aware of it, thanks for reporting it, if you remember anything specific about when it happened please tell us.

Easy mode is using the trumpet of disarray spell every 8 turns.

Dunno if you knew this but sex gives you a double damage boost if you save the heroines. The sex actually works to your benefit if you strategize around it. Anyways, use the trumpet of disarray spell if you want the game to be easier.

My favorite player character is Archer/Huntress. I like monster girls. Originally I'd wanted to do the whole party was monster girls (long story, but basically the original coder i'd teamed up with had said he didn't like monster girls, then we lost contact and i made the game with Cardinal instead). I also like swordswoman because the mystery of her helmet is really fun and makes her really cute. Ninja is a baddie, but she's the most popular by far and is also the most basic and boring character design of the 3 to me, so I like her the least.

Anyone know how to unlock the Arena? I've captured 2 monsters like she asked but now she tells me to check back later
Catch 8 unique monsters in your book and then you should be able to play the arena mode.

Yeah, those aren't roguelikes, they are nothing like Rogue and the subgenre of RPGs based on it. Consult the Berlin interpretation. But, it's mostly a jokey comment anyway, because the subgenre isn't ever going to stop being misunderstood because Binding of Isaac confused people who had no experience with roguelikes. If you want to see an actual ero-roguelike, look at HardStuck.

Ninja imo, i'm a fan of faces and not a fan of hooves so can't be the warrior or hog gal. Plus she's goofy and seems to almost always be enjoying herself which i'm a fan of
