It's the same game. He's making the "Events" in the main game have separate RenPy ports. Usually these ports have content that isn't in the base game version yet, but will be added by the next update.
IIRC he tried porting the entire base game to RenPy but that process stalled out, If I had to guess I'd say he's making all the events RenPy so that when he eventually does port the base game, he'll have all the event content ready before hand

Porting the game to renpy is nice because we can go back in dialogues.
I personnally didn't really like bordello (I prefer having a harem than sharing all the heroines, strip club is ok I guess if I need money). But i would prefer if he didn't start 10 in-game events at the same time.
we can go to 2 other planets, themiscira, Ras palace, gotham, Audrey's palace (mostly lock except for her chambers) etc...
A lot of side quests started and none finished
