Ngl, if they were going to use AI the animations would be the place to do it. You've got a starting and ending frame, use AI to fill in the gaps.
You seem to be seriously underestimating how complicated implementing a recurrent convolutional neural net, and/or assuming the devs possess way more software capabilities than they actually have. Prolly both!

Just cuz someone has figured out how to type an adequate description to evade content restrictions and generate pron images on Midjourney doesn't mean they have a fucking clue how it actually works...

What's he's gonna do? Take even longer to release updates? Spend all year working on more characters no one cares about?
At this point this game developing standards cannot go any lower than this in any way we would be surprised about.

Besides, we know at this point he gets o from cucking his audience so let's not give him the pleasure of asking "we should get also X character" and "are we ever gonna get x?" The answer is always "no, not before you waste away of old age."
This whole thing falls apart because it's been in development for almost 10 years. No game should be developed for 10 years let alone a game with this kind of gameplay loop. In 2017 you can withstand it but now... I'll always wonder why this developer hasn't move on with this project while having such " loyal " fan base that is willing to support him. And approaching this question with a well-intentioned answer would perhaps be a bit naive.

Because it's a money printer and the paypigs are too stupid to vote with their money? Same reason why we're getting 43rd Call of Duty next year. There's no way he keeps the current level of patreon money if he ever finishes SU and moves on to something else.

Kekreon stoogest have low expectations and are pacified by slop. That's why I expect SR to convert to using AI to almost completely remove himself from the process.

I entirely agree with the first statement but I don't see the second happening. AI generation is far too inconsistent between one image and the next, even with a finely tuned prompt to the extent that someone with the artistic skill to draw the image in the first place would likely spend more time "touching up" what they just generated than just drawing the same thing again if the only difference is a facial expression like we commonly see in SU already. In a situation like that, artists - ones using digital tools at least - are better served using old practices like "ghosts" (this is what I like to call them anyway, the boring among us probably just call them templates), the outline of the character and pose they're using before adding the details onto it. These ghosts can have as much or as little granular detail as the artist needs so they only need to do certain aspects once. A common example is artists who draw on/off art of a character. They'll draw the character naked first, leave the face blank and draw increasing amounts of clothing onto the ghost along with the intended facial expression. If it's a commonly used character they'll have presets they can drag-n-drop onto the ghost or selection of ghosts similar to how Doki Doki Literature Club has numerous poses and expressions. This way the artist doesn't have to keep redrawing the same outline, the same hair strands and so on over and over again. It saves time but it still doesn't mean the process is quick. Compared to the irregularity of AI, it's simply not worth converting to such methods for this use case.

Let's also keep in mind this is a game most of us are playing for free. Yes, the whales are getting milked (an odd result of mixing common terms in the gaming sphere but fuck it) but that's their choice. GSG's first post is the one we all download the game from. That's someone who's happily taking a pay-what-you-want pricing model which is extremely generous in the current market and people are still bitching about a game they're getting for free and calling the creator lazy or greedy. Personally, if I was GSG, I'd've said "fuck you greedy little shits" and fucked off a long time ago, locking my game to whichever premium site worked best for me and kept throwing take-downs at F95 just to spite the assholes. He's clearly a bigger man than me and than a not-insignificant amount of the people in this thread. Even with the dips in quality and the constant grammar errors/typos I find in the game, I'm just glad there's some evidence he's still enjoying making this game and finds his little enjoyment in leaving cryptic emojis on the haters.

And for the record, I'm not one of the whales who's just tricking themself into thinking they're making a sound investment. I haven't spent a penny on this game despite having put at least 100 hours into this game (I wish F95Checker tracked play time, that'd be really useful). Sorry about that, Gunsmoke Games, I promise I'll actually throw some cash your deserved-way once I'm more financially stable. So you and others may call GSG all kinds of horrible things but without him, the way he chooses to market his game and the other creators who do the same, I know I wouldn't still be around without the escapism these games have been able to provide me with from the crapfest that has been my real life these past months and I'm glad these comments haven't pushed him and the others out of the market.

Anyway, Ted Talk's over, back to your usual programming of bitching and armchair-expert-ing.

@QuestionableNinja/@Gojo/infinity - Maybe good news on that, Maybe, they said the plan is to work on it his year, and I think soonish. Keyword there though is Plan.

@JohnOoom -
I haven't seen any actual change log for the android update, but I think it added Almerac, Nanda Parbat, more of the Gotham Event High Society, but I don't think all of it(I think some non sex scenes missing, like Renee Intro), can't remember anything else. Please anyone correct me if i'm missing anything.

Doesn't even have to be games, animators have been using this sort of trick FOR DECADES. Every wonder why certain animated scenes appear to have the animated parts be a different shade than the background? Like when some rocks crumble off a cliff, the rocks are a different shade than the entire background? It's cuz cel animation. The animated part is drawn on a transparent plastic sheets (ie, cels) separately than the background plate, then combined to make a final composite animation. DBZ's insanely long and overly drawn out battles definitely illustrate this, but honestly animation in general uses this trick; Disney arguably perfected it...

Still, AI image generation advances will eventually provide an alternative to hand drawing stuff, but the most advanced versions usually also have the most advanced censoring techniques for pretty obvious reasons... money. The same reason Gunsmoke Games keeps their Patreon scam account running! OpenAI just dropped some new image generation features TODAY, the newer version based on 4o apparently no longer generates images in a purely convolutional manner (ie, all pixels all at once), the newer version is termed "autoregressive." Which should allow for being able to generate images in comic book panel styles.

Or maybe not, just tried to test those features and it's so new, it's actually not showing up yet. Still only giving DALL E image generation option for now...

Edit: As of Saturday, 3/29/25, new feature for autoregressive image generation is up on the free version of ChatGPT, it was only on the paid version until now (release was Tuesday). Interesting, but slower.
