I have been a "fan" of this game for 5 or maybe even 6 years now, so yeah, I'm a bit bitter at this point.
Especially since for what it is worth SR7
is talented enough to basically nail the JLU artstyle (and not only that), which, in turn, was the biggest heh turn-on for a lot of folks when he began drawing.
Even more so once SU started ramping up, and SR7 showed he could even redesign non JLU characters (such as the YJ crew) for his unique art-style.
People were constantly guessing who'd he do next, and wondering how it would be incorporated in the story. But that was already 4 years ago, and approximately also the last time I was truly hyped for an update (Crush, post from march of 2021, thank you other website for the handy search function).
Since then it has gone downhill, starting from his much-hyped Themyscira "update" and further devolving with the change in "art"-style. My problem isn't even with the waiting time, because screw it, I - as a somewhat creative person myself - understand how long it would take for things to develop. I could wait, and did, for many online games and mods because the pay-off is worth it.
But SU just keeps getting worse with each year, turning into a farce, and the results from SR7's "hard work" barely match up with the slop he keeps vomiting onto his patreon page, while using the same excuses that he did 4-5 years ago.
The world has moved on, development has ramped up immensly, you can literally make whole-ass games in your bedroom on a laptop because everything is so accessible and yet Gunsmoke (with their 3.5
thousand paying subscribers and top tier going for a whooping 50 euros/month) is giving content of a lower quality than f.e the (now sadly abandoned) Behind the Doom game, which was developed by one guy, behind his computer, without the help of AI but just by using in-painting and tracing over celebrity fotos.
Did it take a long time for him to develop things as well?
Yeah, sure, but he was working solo.
What is your excuse Gunsmoke? It is an open secret that a whole team is behind this.
Can't be bothered to actually ramp up production? Get better gear? Or are you just still making it for "yourself" and we should just be happy you are sharing it with us?
But in that case, stop asking people for money. Share it for free.
It feels like SR7 is either working on Valve time (though even then, Gabe Newell has his business model down pat and Steam is actually a good enough product for people to keep using it and give him profits without the release of new games through his studio) or is somehow still stuck in ca. 2017 and communicating with us via a tele-time machine.
Which
would actually be impressive if not for the fact that we know from Patreon updates that he isn't.
He is just a lazy, self-absorbed, hack still coasting on the bits of goodwill left from the past and the fact that there apparently is a rather significant audience for shitty, mediocre, repetitive, bimbo content.
