Apologies if I've missed the design intent in another message somewhere - I'm a little confused by these two statements.

What was really enjoyable about the Cell content - at least for me, specifically - was:

• The classic Bruce Timm inspired artstyle, as opposed to the hypermuscular style seen in updates like Themiscyra/Gotham
• The good variety of scenes/positions for a girl, randing from handjob to BJ to vaginal etc.
• The ability to enjoy the above scenes with different outfit combinations

And to be honest, those above three bullet points are the very things I loved about SU for many years (including in the Bordello, since there were some outfit choices there too). It was some of the best adult content in the entire sphere, for a long while.

When you say that's a no-go, but then you say the style of content people love can be put elsewhere - what do you mean by that style of content? Are those three bullets above a no-go from now on?

Let me summarize what you're saying then answer that summary.

If this summary is correct (Let me know if I'm wrong) then I will answer that. The cells took 4-6 years to complete, and then we tackle the bordello. I won't bore you with the math around combinations but it's not a fun task filling out that content. We had a user here actually cancel his subscription because of cell in-completion and he's still very angry and frustrated even though they are complete. So I can assure you the costume combinations won't be seeing a return in the context they were in the cells. But that doesn't mean we can't explore costumes in other ways. As for the classic Timm style SR7 is having fun exploring and his art is still very much Timm'esque.

I do recognize how much extra work the traditional "cell format" is, having several different versions per scene to accommodate the costumes. That was one of my favorite features though, and something that made SU stand out even more to me. Unlocking both the new scenes and the new costumes. And unlocking a new costume was the perfect reason to go through the older actions again (like choosing a Dance or a BJ again even if you've advanced on to Sex and Anal) because now you could see it with a new outfit

Plus it also made the character roster feel like a "collection", and like they were property. Even going as far as getting to dictate what clothes they each wear (if any), all just depending on your mood. Like having all of them dress in their slut outfits one night. And the character combos (even more work, I know!) could create some very interesting scenes. I remember one favorite of mine was having Cheshire wear her suit costume and Artemis wear her schoolgirl one, so that their scenes looked like it had a "Teacher and Naughty Schoolgirl" dynamic going on. Or have them both wear the schoolgirl outfits, etc.

If they were all just *naked*, and that was it, it would essentially make every scene feel more like just a one-and-done. Not that the scenes that are more kind of 'one-and-done's aren't awesome too, but the costumes were something that made the cells special and really stand out. That being said, I agree that it wouldn't be feasible for *every single character* to get the "full cell treatment" of course. And pretty much every character would have at least a few fans that would want that for them. It's impossible to please everyone.

But in general, while I do see how the cells are a shit-ton of work comparatively, imho as a fan, it's one of the key features that put SU on a whole other level. If SR7 ever decided he just doesn't want to do them anymore then that'd be of course his call. The quality would suffer anyway if he just hated doing it and tried to force himself through the work.


Tldr: For whatever it's worth, even if he ever stopped the cells entirely: the time and effort that was required to make the cells what they are is both acknowledged and appreciated (I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure I'm not alone on that one lol)!

Thanks Sloth for the kind words. I really agree with you on the fun combo's and that is what made the cells great. However making sure SR7 didn't just quit wasn't fun at all. Yes, he designed the area and built himself into that corner. But I can also understand he won't make that mistake again. I consider the cells a happy mistake from my perspective, but from SR7's they were fucking hell.

with the topic of the cells.... I do think the crossover stuff could be expanded on. Be it existing crossover stuff, teased crossover stuff, or not-yet-implemented crossover stuff

Pretty much spot on! Only thing I'd tweak is that it's not nostalgia per se, just that it's an extremely attractive and timeless artstyle, and suits hentai really well (all subjective of course!) - these are not my favourite pieces of SU content because they happened to come first, but because this specific artwork by SR7 is absolutely sublime (Bordello not Cell examples, but all were artistic perfection):

Really appreciate the clarity here! As beloved as that content is, I'd hate even more to know that SR7 wasn't enjoying making it, or even considering quitting. It's good to know that you guys are making the choices that are right (and healthy) for you as a team, first and foremost.

Again much appreciated, and look forward to seeing what you choose going forward. To be honest, even as a costume lover, I admit there's a diminishing returns to it.

At the high returns end, a simple choice between 'clothed/underwear/nude' can be a huge boost to the fun (especially for art modders where we can play around with topless variations etc.) - whereas at the lower returns end, a nth costume choice becomes less value out for the work put in by the artist.

So yeah, I look forward to seeing the balanced approach you guys take.

Despite loving the style in my Spoilers above, it's great to know SR7 is having fun with the art. I was never in a position to support the game back at that time, and now that I am, I'm cautiously keeping an eye on things to see if it goes in a direction I'd wish to pay for - but I'm just one voice in a sea of many, and the best approach is always for a dev to do what they love.

I'd be really curious to see the weightings if a poll were ever to be run regarding the artstyle direction - it's always a tricky thing when a project changes direction midway. If a fresh game is made with an artstyle someone doesn't vibe with, they can just ignore it - but if an existing game changes its style, it'll always create several different camps with distinct opinions.

I will add some context so you can understand why we were shocked. We made a post in December asking Patrons what their favorite parts of SU, mainly revolving around emotional responses. We had over 100 detailed responses in total. I passed all those responses through ChatGTP to extract the key emotional response words. From there we took the top 4 and made them a scorecard.

What was shocking was burried in all the responses was the word cross-over, it showed up with regularity. I brought that to the team and we all understood those sections were popular, but we didn't understand why! One team member had been calling for cross-over content for years. You can see these changes directly in Gotham as SR7 moved to more multiple girl scenes in the most recent update.

The 4 major emotional responses were: corruption, power, nostalgia (art), and curiosity.

Thank you so much for the kind words, and we're constantly working to be transparent (outside this thread, we get tons of comments on how transparent we are), and improving our systems and SU.

No we haven't polled anyone, and really having a potential small vocal minority change direction is usually an unwise decision. Instead we aggregate all comments, and I can assure you the art style complaint is mostly from this thread. I see an equal love for the recent art style in all our other channels.

After the increasingly dwindling lack of content across full on months on end, the refusal to go back and finish already ongoing events and character by character writing mini arcs and areas like Cells, Metabordello (which is literally only 30% complete given all the cell content girls that have almost nothing in the bordello side), the decision to move onto new events and then also leaving THOSE events incomplete too while having the audacity to call them completed despite clearly missing plenty of content and scenes for the girls in that (See Themiscyra event where lots of the characters don't even have basic presentation sex scenes... and you try and call that complete?), and then making excuses after excuses for their laziness and "burnout" to the point I WISH they'd actually be using Ai just to give SOME content at regular close intervals instead of dragging people on and one for multiple months on end with barely ant if at all content.

The devs are either completely out of touch with reality or are aware of the practice of profiting off of dumb idiots who still pay for basically nothing in return (seriously, if any patreons are on here and see this, what even are yall paying these guys for? There's barely anything given in return!), the main artist behind this being a total lazy bum and excusing his mood swings and laziness with "oh woe is me... I'm burnout..." is just deplorable. I cannot for the life of me understand what people are even giving these guys money for. And don't even get me started on the Bend or Break 2 game that's basically a false promise and dead in the water at this point.

I'm not even mad btw, despite how harsh and aggro the things I said above sound, I'm honestly more than anything just amazed... Bewildered, shocked, straight up dumbfounded even at how naive some people are and how many ungodly amount of chances the paypigs on Patreon are willing to give to a development team that's very clearly reaping all the money and barely delivering back on the promises or even the logical demands of what they set out to do.

I just want to reiterate I'm just building context on your statement. You are stating that we are dishonest as there is increasingly dwindling lack of content across releases. We have internal metrics on scene count (our definition is BJ and all art is a scene), and that has been extremely consistent. However there are situations where certain builds (2.4.7 for instance) have accumulated amounts of art that bumps those numbers up. If you "assume" that all that art is developed in the current cycle then I would agree with your assumption of laziness. However we have stated for well over 5 years at this point on how content is created and why we have these bumps. So again no content isn't increasingly dwindling, there is just large spikes due to built up content being implemented.

Yes there are mini arcs in the cells which we have acknowledge many times, and now with our move to Ren'py we can explore ways to clean those up. We have refused to ADD more characters directly to the cells, and complete those mini arcs in the cells due to the immense time requirement to complete one scene with a dozen costumes (including Lex's). I don't think we have ever refused to finish the bordello, we actually have said even in this thread bordello content is coming back, we just utilized it for streams.

Can you point to a comment from us that we refused bordello content. I would like to make sure it's factual.

I agree with you JadenYuki, Themyscira content is complete. But I believe your confusing what has been said in F95 from non-supporters as official statements. We have said Themyscira is plot complete, not content. We're planning to go back to Themyscira content later this year, and have said this numerous times outside this thread.

As for switching up content, SR7 enjoys doing this, and I think if there is something you enjoy doing you would do it as well. I believe in people enjoying what they do, and keeping that enjoyment going for a long time is what keeps creators engaged.

JadenYuki, you and another user have stated we make excuses constantly, and now I'm hearing that we have stated we're burntout. I asked the other user to point me to the comment, and they didn't reply.

I addressed the content statement from you. However dragging things on that aren't at regular intervals is something I addressed (from the same user I mentioned above). Prior to 2.4.7 our longes delay was a mere 11 days, after that we had a 14 day delay. That is over 10 years with days of delays. I can understand waiting for content and how it must seem like we're dragging things out, but we made promises regarding release windows, and I believe we have only a couple moments where we broke that promise in over 100+ releases.

I can't speak on reworking old content. But the panning has been brought up many times, and we are aware. I can't give you a definitive answer about it yet, but I want you to know we're aware.

Especially when characters one might think would have a big role on Themyscira (like Hyppolyta/Wonder Woman/the Wonder Girl variations) have so little "screentime" compared to the Korra-blacksmith for example?

In hindsight wouldn't time have been better spent on the more expected characters instead of seemingly random new side-characters like the librarian or oracle? And if they are going to be relevant later, why have them from the start?

However, that doesn't mean that the characters can't have more things happen, say moving the Wonder Girls to THemiscyra, more stuff with the Amazon characters... Maybe even more with Maxima x Grail. Maybe having Galatea perform int eh arena or whatever.

We've answered the this question prior. But what I will do is build on the story your going with, to help you understand decision making.

In a two month dev cycle SR7 would move rapidly to implement content. He literally builds the game (always has) inside Unity, like a lego set. First thing he always does is a character list (drawn), then he moves on to building out the map. Then he fills it in. So in your perspective he adds in characters, but to him those characters were always going to be added. He choses what he wants to do, and goes from there.

You're 100% correct, and we have stated the same thing since last year on many of our official channels. We just haven't stated it here.

As you can see Gotham has been done better, but I agree not perfectly. I will say that we're now utilizing much more time in planning to avoid these scope issues that are present in several areas of SU (our current update went through 2 weeks of planning). The lack of planning previously was due to having only 8 weeks to do an update.
