only in the Ren'py buildis there a gallery that also plays the scenes with the text? cause the ones i can find in the vault are just cgs and no text
Due to the sheer size of SU we cannot fund something like that. It took years just to rebuild the game in Ren'py and it that hasn't even caught up yet.a couple of years ago around when y'all drop the update 2.0.6 or 2.0.7(it been son long) that yall wasn't doing animation anymore cause it took too long to finish, so that it was going to be on the backlog for a while. So my question is are you guys still planning on keep it on the backlog and wait for the everything to be done or are you guys thinking of adding animation to some of the girl who already got full cell content with this new 4 month release plan?
Take a look at hisGentlemens, I strongly recommend that you simply block dev, because you will only get upset seeing what he writes.
I mean, we all know he came here to sell us fairy tales about things that don't exist and make excuses, so why get upset?
Really? It took you years to put a bunch of still images with text over them into an engine that is literally designed for still images with text over them? More like "We did nothing with Ren'Py for years and when the game code in Unity was too screwed to maintain we started so slowly port content over." Nothing about Something Unlimited is complex enough to take years to port into Ren'Py unless you're either incompetent or gifting. Based on your posts here, general behaviour on your "official" social media, the copy paste artwork, and the copy paste spaghetti code in the Unity version I'd wager it's both in your case.Due to the sheer size of SU we cannot fund something like that. I mean, like I stated before - a guy on this forum has recreated this game in Ren'Py, from scratch, without funding.Really? Thanks for posting this Deepsea, we have routinely faced decreases in patronage over time. But throughout your post history you seem to want us to fail. If you look back two years ago we were down 10% YoY, with a subtle pull of a lever we regained that 10% and more. We have made significant changes, and we forecast this drop. We also are forcasting a bigger reboud with the higher quality, and more compete builds.Take a look at hisYou must be registered to see the links.

He's been bleeding so many subs he's back to 3,200. Where they were exactly 2 years ago. And look at that downward trend.

Oriandu thanks for presenting this so I can help get us on the same factual reality. All the images in SU were designed with PC in mind. Since we made the Ren'py version for Android we re-sized EVERY image in SU which is extremely time intensive. Also as you stated that you have to take a bunch of still images and text. You left out the part where you have to position each of those images, which again is extremely time intensive. Lastly you leave out the fact that there isn't an efficient way to export the text (it's in a visual scripting editor, and doesn't just port to Ren'py). So all text had to be added in a more time intensive fashion.Really? This is a great example of how this thread can spiral into misinformation. You have stated that Mendoza (the guy) has recreated this game from scracth. You have left out that his project is over 2.5 years old and still is not cell complete. We released a Ren'py rebuild cell complete with a couple events 2.5 years ago. Since that time we have added more, and later this year we will have a near 1:1 Ren'py rebuild for both PC, Android, Windows. Mendoza's project has been a labour of love for him, but his project has also split 3x since it's inception. I think it's important that we operate in the same factual reality, that we accomplished more than the person you have stated in a quicker fashion, without losing the person who did it.I mean, like I stated before - a guy on this forum has recreated this game in Ren'Py, from scratch, without funding.
They keep saying that it would take "too long" despite admitting to having separate developers for this shit. It is laughable, honestly.
Oh gee, you resized images? Holy fucking shit, you RESIZED IMAGES? Stop the presses, kids, they did something you could do in Windows Paint in 1985! Wow! It's the year 2025 and you're acting like that is somehow a feat? At any point in the last 20ish years you could have written an algorithm to do it for you, in this day and age you could feed it into any number of AI tools and get good results in resizing. Shrinking, positioning, and porting things into Ren'Py is not a two year endeavour no matter how you want to frame it. Plenty of developers have crafted far more complex games in Ren'Py than anything you've created in any engine you've tried to cram Something Unlimited into in a fraction of the time you've managed to hack three unfinished events off of the Unity version and they've done it without having to rely on stolen intellectual property to bring fans in.Thanks for posting this Deepsea, we have routinely faced decreases in patronage over time. Just to point out Deepsea doesn't have internal numbers like churn which has improved over 50% since our change.

Taking a game that was already 8 years old and porting it over in 2 years is an accomplishment.
Henshin is a member of this community and your attacks on his competencies are not warranted. He has done a fantastic job for us, and will continue to do so.

Again the too long comment was in regards to animating images. But thanks for allowing me to help build on the context so we can begin to have some dialogue.
So, in light of the recent efforts to reach out to posters here, I'd like to throw my hat in the ring in terms offering feedback and my thoughts on where SU stands in 2025. I'm responding to not just the quoted Devblog, but also the "10 Years of SU" and "Ripping the Band-Aid Off" posts on Patreon. I came across SU back in the Wild West days on 4chan, and I've followed the development on and off since at least 2017. I'm trying to keep a lot of thoughts brief and concise, so some parts of what follows may come off more terse or hostile than intended. And some of this you may have heard before, but, here's my 2¢:This one is free again, so don't be fucking weird because it's on Patreon. And you can also become a free member, so again don't be a weird pirate and dislike free shit.

I read your whole post and agree with many points you have brought up but I want to talk about this one, I agree and find it weird that the devs have some fear of characterization. I listened and participated in the last town hall and one of the points the devs gave with corruptions is that they want to keep heroine personalities. HOWEVER in my humble opinion the best part of corruption is precisely seeing the personality change, that's one of the key points of corruption. Like the devs themselves bring up from time to time the favorite cell content is girls like miss martian and I think the do somewhat miss the point as to why it is one of the best ones, not just the variety of content but the fact that at the end HER personality changes, you feel like you did your job to corrupt a girl fully. I hope the devs lose some of that fear of the characters acting different from their canon as I think that enhances the corruption aspect and makes it that the players feels satisfied when finishing a certain girl's content. But most of the heroines are only partially corrupt or willing at the end of their interactions. I used to get the sense - this may not be accurate - from tuning in to the old Picarto streams that SSR7 was always hesitant about finishing some or all of the corruption arcs, perhaps because of concerns about realism or characterization. But in a game that is narratively and mechanically built around corrupting heroines, it is incredibly frustrating that gameplay stops before the player can complete the primary stated objective. Of course, it may also be a pacing decision as some characters' arcs are on hold as other areas of the game are being developed.
Done. It worked. I need a new PC though.Your audio drivers are broken. What you need to do is uninstall windows completely, delete all your family pictures, go up to your roof, throw your computer down the building, dance the dance of realtek, and then maybe it'll be fixed.
No audio dude.
I wouldn't say it's a fear of characterization and more a concern about breaking the player's feeling of immersion, which is commendable. I don't think corruption needs a personality change, though it can be an effective and entertaining part of the process. Completing the corruption arcs would require that the heroines align some or all of their outlooks, priorities, allegiances, moralities, etc. with Lex's to a degree that makes the player feel like there's been success with a corruption process. My perception from playing through the game is that many heroines on the old roster are currently in a state where they are wholly unaligned, faking that alignment, or offering that alignment very begrudgingly.I read your whole post and agree with many points you have brought up but I want to talk about this one, I agree and find it weird that the devs have some fear of characterization. I'm glad that my post got the intended reception! I wouldn't have written my post and kept playing this game over 8 years if I didn't want it to succeed. I don't think I was totally successful in keeping a lid on takes related to my personal tastes, but I wanted to try and engage on a meta level about the production of the game itself and offer what I hoped would be some cogent thoughts and insights.Thank you so much for taking so much time to write THE MOST in depth, and thought provoking comments in this threads existence. These are the posts that drive the improvements we're making. Thank you so much!
First off I want to say everything you stated I agree with totally, and what you have communicated isn't the first time I have heard these criticisms. I want to touch base on a few of your statements and provide our thoughts on them, maybe you will see we are fairly aligned.
Your initial statement about competition, is one where we have made significant changes internally. Prior our vision was just like yours, "show me who else has done this!". The typical response was to move to another issue, and we would feel vindicated. But that isn't the right attitude at all, sure we cornered the DC smut niche, but that doesn't mean we look in the mirror and jerk off. We got lucky, plain in simple, and if we got lucky so could anyone else. We need to iterate, and in my opinion we have failed on that.
I want to touch on your comments regarding the switch to Ren'py and how it was late. I agree that the switch probably could have happened sooner. But we officially started our Ren'py rebuild in late 2020, and had Henshin on payroll in early 2021. So you're exactly right about when the Ren'py rebuild was taking place. As for moving sooner, Ren'py only became a conversation point in 2020-2021 and that is when we started. Our eyes were on Unity, until they changed CEO's.
I want to add some dialogue to your stand alone comments. You're one of the few people who understand where we wanted to go with the stand alones. In fact the concept of stand alones came from a comment in this very thread, and you highlight that with your comments on Themyscira feeling like a whole different game. I wanted to reach more users, and make sure Android users were able to access new content as well. Stand alones seemed like a brilliant way to address that content. What wasn't ever considered was your perspective, and how the "sandbox" feel doesn't carry over. So that brings us to another comment from this thread that made me re-ask a question to Henshin that hadn't been asked in two years "How much work to convert the Android build to PC". The results are clear with the direction change.
I want to say we agree about the execution part of your comments. To execute you need a plan, and not just writing on a napkin, you need a comprehensive plan. This was the aspect of SU development that was removed due to time constraints in the 2 month window, and frankly we had no process for planning. Now we have spent more time than ever with planning, brainstorming, and discussing as this cycle moves forward. I can tell you from what I see internally the differences are massive.
Thanks so much for giving me the opportunity to talk with a level headed, thought provoking post. I hope to only encourage more of these types of posts in the future, as I have documented many of your ideas.
*I forgot to mention BoB2: It should never have been announced the way it was, that was an internal mistake. I'm still pissed that fucking image was released because of the crates of ammo it provided. I wanted to create a plan of how to address questions, and show we were working towards it. I woke up to that post. Sharing an image with "ideas" and a fucking date was retarded.
Krieger left the conversationDone. It worked. I need a new PC though.
