I do have arachnophobia but stick a hot womans body on top of one and i'll let my MC have a go.
If a human sized spider ever popped up near me with or without a hot human half then a trail of dust with an Ava shaped spec in the distance would appear.
I have to get my better half to save me from them. One got into the bathroom while I was in the bath once, she was at work. I was in that bath for 3 and a half hours.
Had to top it back up with hot water 4 times.
I was a god damned prune by the time I was saved. Slap a white wig on I could have passed for my gran i'd wrinkled that much.
They freak me out. Just how they move it's weird and creepy. Why do they need so many eyes, why do they need so many legs and why the fuck do their feeding habits have to be straight out of Lovecraftian horror?
I've got an Aunt lives in Australia. I've never visited. Never going to. I write letters, that's about as close to their giant house stealing spiders as I ever want to get.
Don't know why their legs freak me out so much. I mean, I have 3 Mantids and I think they are super cute. One of them boxes with me, it's adorable. Not literally box, it's small, I mean I do like a bicycle move with my fingers and it does the same with it's Raptorials. Super cute ..... except when they eat, that's super gross.

I have no problems with spiders. Not only they don't bother me, I find them quite cute.
BUT (and it is a BIG butt)
When I was 7 or 8, I caught the Angolan version of Malaria. It was treated easily, but, it left me with periodical bouts of VERY high fevers that last for a day and then vanish. In one of those bouts, while under a 42º C fever, I was trying to sleep waiting for the meds to take hold and I had an hallucination. I was in a barn (mind you I lived in an African city, I had never seen a barn, except in movies) I was laying down on some hay. In front of me was a gigantic owl. When she turned her head and looked at me, she opened the beak and launched on me. I woke up(?) screaming.
I can't stand them. I can't look at an owl of whatever size and not instantly remember that hallucination and that abject terror. I've learned to control it (mostly) but I still get the full rush of adrenaline and the flight impulse. Over the years I've made some attempts to treat this by exposure, don't really recommend.

When I was a kid, 8-9, I was climbing a tree and climbed up into a massive web that was filled with baby spiders. I had them all over me. I couldn't get to the shower fast enough. Not really afraid of them, some of them like the little jumping fuckers with the big eyes are kinda cute, but I keep my distance from the rest. Now cockroaches... I will burn a building down, I swear to god.
