Likely just a setup for him to show that he means business for the MC and to send a warning of what she's up against. A show of "Good Faith" ie: "Hey almost had you get offed because of an unhinged lunatic son that was tied to a cartel of a business partner of mine, and I really dont want there to be bad blood between us even though you seemed alright, I'd still like to extend a massive olive branch to show I'm serious about our arrangements"

Thats how I took that "unexpected meeting," a powerplay by Adam himself to give MC an answer or two.

It feels pointless to set up the revenge/dark turn only for all the other characters to still be more badass than us. Why do Sam and Adam get to deal with the annoying guy targeting us? Way to take a cathartic kill away from us!

All we get is extended hand to hand combat sequences that don't settle anything.
