Turning help tips into word puzzles can also be an option, just needs proper warning, so people don't take it literally. As you can see in the post above, the player did what the tooltip said and still got stuck. If the tip was "talk with X and KEEP talking again and again, until you get it", then he/she had no need to post here that the game is not working or is bugged. If everything is completely spelled out then what is the purpose of playing?
I don't mind it, one way or another, it's not me who got stuck. But I remember that took a while when I played, to figure out in first quests, when had to recruit one crew member and she was there only between fixed hours.
This theme, of being intentionally vague, it's all over in the game. Doesn't require much thinking to solve it, just have to know about it, and it's easy once you have been warned or figured out. One just needs patience and to not advance to next, until everything is completed in a given area or quest. Finding out about those is the tricky part, may require multiple failures or asking external help.
Doesn't make it more difficult, all it does is to artificially increase the time it takes to advance in the story, since you can do a limited actions per day and then have to advance to next day to continue, and finding out the exact hour to do it, the exact person/object to interact and do it in a fixed order (since things happen in a scripted order, A must be completed to unlock B, and then C > D > E).
This isn't a problem in itself, the problem is when it's possible to get stuck or fail later because something that you did not know about had to be completed and the game did not warn you. This gets quite complicated and I quite understand if the game help system can't even keep up at some point. Then this can't be fixed without returning to an earlier save, or starting over, or just playing on as it is.
So having "everything completely spelled out" would be helpful for those without the patience to deal with figuring out all this. It's not like these are very logical or make any sense. It's just takes longer to advance. Or makes it easier to quit, if one had enough of it and will think that the game is just bugged.
