Everybody's losing their mind over Summertime Saga right now but it's this update I'm stoked for. Looking forward to the new version trickling down to us proles.
Thanks potatoman! :p Lol - Summertime actually updating is a pretty major event, of course :LOL: Next you'll be telling that icstor's got something for us! :ROFLMAO:

The SpaceCorps all-patrons and public release should be out towards the end of the week tho ;)

Summertime Saga sucks though (say that 3x fast lol)

That game's been around for 4yrs and it hasn't progressed the story since the first year. Not to mention that it's promised a m/m route that it hasn't delivered on

I tried to play this, but I hate the main character's haircut too much. Everytime I saw that awful orange mop I started getting flashbacks to Chairman of The Board and that time Carrot Top beat me up while roid-raging

Can't remember it ever promising a M/M route. It did promise a trap and that's already in the game. Also, while the main story hasn't advanced, the stories of the side characters have.

It did. The gay tag was on the devs homepage. Kevin was supposed to be fuckable. Also didn't know he finally put trans in their

Yeah - I figured he was being set up for scenes... and was very much into that! DarkCookie prob got cold feet because the moment you stick the gay tag on a game, half the potential players back away slowly :LOL:

Totally missed the trap - wasn't the cute emo chick was it? Last time I played, I still hadn't seen inside her pants... I personally reckon that SS is a gold standard game, but the slow dev times of the last couple of years just sapped my interest.
Meh, couldn't care less about Summertime saga myself but I sure am counting down days till the public release of Spacecorps v.0.3.1. ;)

Yep, that was the emo chick. And yeah, the slow dev time also made me only sporadically check it (maybe if the main story and mechanics had taken priority rather than the side characters...). Still, SS is a better game to hold in high regards than BB. That had only good renders going for it, as far as story went, that was just a clusterfuck (guess the lesson there is, if you want to make the game you want, don't listen to your patreons and don't make up the story as you go).

Wait, you mean to say that you managed to create this awesome game by setting yourself really low standards? Damn, I wonder what you'd manage to achieve if you set yourself for standard something like Depraved Awakening... :unsure: :p

And no offence meant to anyone who likes the Summertime saga, it's just not my cup of tea, so I'm messing around with you a bit. ;)

Ah - the immense satisfaction when a random guess turns out to be true! :D

I def prefer SS to BB - it's the humour and the quirks that first sold it to me... the rap game was just so pleasantly random. I won't be criticising any other devs for making shit up on the fly, though :)LOL: like 50% of my stuff just pops into my head as I'm doing it!)

Well - DA is another gold standard... along everything else by Philly, the sadly abandoned Coceter Chronicles and Two Sides (before Greono went insane). I'm pretty eclectic in my tastes (as you've probably guessed :LOL:) - the only major game I didn't enjoy was Superpowered... it started well, but I cannot abide grind!

Oh, there's a difference between making shit up on the fly and making the story up as you go. I'm sure you have an endgoal in mind, you just fuck around on your way to get there. A lot of people just start with a premise and have no idea what to do after that, which ends up in a lot of abandonned storylines and failed characters.

I always imagined that, were to work on a project like this, my approach would look something like this 0 0 0 0 0 , where the strikethrough represents the vanilla path and the 0s represent looping branches with more niche content that all converge on the same point in time but with the MC having experienced different events.

The most important part of this approach is that I would pretty much write the vanilla path before tackling the various branches so that, no matter how crazy they got, i'd always have a place to come back to.

True but your approach is far more flexible for the player. Adapting this approach to your game would force the player to choose an LI from the start and focus solely on them as you wouldn't be getting points with the other; it's more suited to a CYOA game than what you've created and nowhere near as interesting.

I'm still hoping Njeveros returns one day to finish Coceter Chronicles. That was the only game with a female MC that I truly enjoyed, not to mention Njeveros' superb storytelling skills...

I'm not familliar with Two sides but I completely agree with you when it comes to Superpowered - it had a lot of potential but the grind really sucked the fun out of it. Hell, even playing with cheats was tedious and repetitive... There was also the fact that MC is one of the ugliest and least relatable in any game. :LOL:

Coceter probably won't ever come back, it was a project between I think a son and dad team, the dad died. So it just got put away.

Two sides was a game with promise that got remade I think this is the 3rd or 4th time. It went from VN to 3D game to I think a midway and back to VN. Which each version lost all work of the previous... so yeah.

I miss original superpowered when it was Real images on Rags or QSP I think. The newer thing doesn't really look good, and requires specific powers to be able to do anything so it just became linear grind.

Then we have the worst of the worst, the ginger of spacecorps, of course Demons are after him, he has no soul.

No, Njeveros' dad was his/her important role model and got him/her into storytelling but they didn't work together on this game. His death did impact him/her a lot and the game reminded Njeveros of him too much nevertheless.

As for Njeveros' sex, it was never revealed and there was a lot of guessing about that, since hints supporting either option were found. :)

I always figured Njeveros was trans - no idea which way. Kinda glad to hear I wasn't a dad/son team making a sex game, tho - that would be... odd. It's a shame the game was abandoned, since it was so well done, but the reasons are very understandable and her last post was really touching.

Yeah - I kinda wonder if 2Sides has been passed repeatedly between devs given the difference. That or perfectionism ran rampant and killed off one of the most promising games I've seen! I didn't know Superpowered used to be real porn - never play the stuff myself. I just remember looking at the clock, realising that I'd been grinding joylessly for three hours, and deleting it :LOL:

That was my guess as well, mostly due to the fact that the character in the game who had the same first name as Njeveros was futa. :)
