I think that might help with keeping game saves backward compatible if you added new scenes to old, already released content. If you add a new kink, it's enabled by default and players will choose if they want to disable when they encounter it again in the game.

I'd say that most players would be fine seeing something they wouldn't choose... However, I'm very big on the consent/choice thing, and I'd hate to turn off, piss off or freak out any players if I can avoid it. I also kinda like the Psyche-test aspect of building up a list of kinks... especially if I can introduce a player to one they didn't know they had!
