I haven't played disgaea - after wasting many, many months on World of Warcraft when I was a kid, I vowed never to grind again!

Total war series and old style rpgs like Baldur's gate, Elder scroll series and first two Fallouts for me, though the GTA series certainly has a lot to offer as well. And then there's of course the Aurora.

But yeah, I never understood the appeal of hurrying through the games without exploring everything they have to offer.

Fallouts are great - a truly inventive, well crafted series; and Elder Scrolls are generally worth the time. I like a lot of GTA (my favourite is San Andreas) - but Rockstar's crowing achievement was Red Dead Redemption - it's fucking amazing!

Since when is a 12h campaign considered long?
I always prefered games that took 100 hours or more to complete.

I guess kids nowdays really do have a much shorter attention span.

Young whippersnappers these days! I'm a big strategy game fan - so I'm quite happy to play 1000 hours conquering the world in EUIV and suchlike… or a 100 hours fucking shit up in openworld games like GTA. (Near-autistic levels of patience are a must for a game dev ). As long as things are kept new and exciting within a game - i.e. no grind - I'm happy

The disgaea grind is stupid. Each item has an "item world" which is a tower of 99 levels. This is the same for weapons, armor, etc. That is all side grind stuff. So hundreds of items with about 100 stages to go through in a strategy game, you can imagine the bloat.

Wait, what? Sam is the goalie, but he is happy a goal was scored? The ball is in the middle of the field. Was it scored on him? Did he score on himself? Does that count as sex? So lost.

Also, his shorts seem regular while the girls have a weird lace up point. But god damn is he nipping.

Seriously, given the choice between listening to a single country song or any other worst case scenario, I think I'd choose mutilation, or slow starvation, or cancer or something. I would go back in time if I could and eliminate anything that could theoretically EVER lead to the potential for country to ever develop, even knowing that it would eliminate my entire family line from the timestream just because it's the right thing to do! Honestly, friends don't expose friends to country! ANYTHING is better than country!

So no more country, okay? And if you could re-edit the game to remove all the country all of existence would appreciate it.

Matter of opinion. If anything, I wouldn't mind some more country in the game, not to mention it fits perfectly with MC's background.

Actually, country isn't one of my top genres (though there certainly are some fantastic tunes). Like Dreadder says, it's about referencing MC's rural Ganymedian background - and that there backwater sub-colony is a hillbilly bluegrass haven! However, there will always be many musical tastes catered for - and as Branches and Paths begin to diverge in Phase 2 you'll see them musically themed: e.g. SciCorps tracks will see more trance and classical, Forward Infantry will see more metal and techno, while Comfort section will be all about the soul. Flashbacks to Ganymede, natch, will be country-styled tho - and I have a lot of it planned for FliteCorps.
