What do I do to avoid the worm boss's final laser? I'm stuck.
This may not be scientific, and I could be wrong, but what I did is to just kill him as fast as you can. Take some potshots, get some risk in, get as little health taken as possible, and he should go down. Also try to hit him with the power punch combo whenever you're in range since it'll cut a chunk of his health. Still risky and close range so be careful.

Really, my guess is that the laser attack could be a design choice to let you know you took/stalled for too long, kinda like a timer of sorts. I don't like it either, but hey, it's beatable.

I don't know enough about IT stuff, but when I closed the game, some task of it was still running a few hours later, so I could not delete it. For me, that's suspicious, but maybe someone with more IT knowledge can interpret it better.

My guesses are 1): you didn't actually close it or 2): it crashed and hanged on the background but wasn't finished "closing" per se. You have to force it through task manager. If you are worried for a virus, always scan out the .zip file/executables through Avast or Malwarebytes. Shouldn't be any around anyways, but me being paranoid, I understand it.

any updates on this game?
Hi ! We're still working on it, preparing the second private release.

Development slowed down a bit since the first release, as the pace we had at that point was not sustainable, but we're inching along nearly every night :)

We have been distracted as of late with adding mechanics with flooded areas, oxygen, aquatic enemies, slows, and of course, upgrades to mitigate all of that. We have already finished right now multiple small enemies, one finished new medium interactable enemy, with another one in the works, and I'm personally working right now on the second boss.

We might make an in-between release with our work on flooded areas, since it was not on the roadmap and was really just us being featherbrained and distracted.

The only feature I have yet to begin that I'd like to have for the second release is the map.

ngl if u would like to or have the time to... making each enemy interactable would make this game a lot more fun to play... but thats just my personal opinion, so i cant speak for the whole community. but overall im really greatfull for ur answer and im happy that the progress is actually a progress and not a standby where u dont give a fuck as long as money is right... lmfao
much love to the whole developer team <3

I kinda wish we could reply to reviews. Saw the last review by Xyzaxis a while ago. Sorry you couldn't enjoy the game to your liking. We do our best to improve on it. A map is definitely a requested feature we'll work on.

Although, everything you see on itch (In the screenshots, features on the roadmap are being worked on of course) is available in the current deployed release. If you are stuck, I recommend taking a look at this video:

The tiny morph upgrade is in the game as well, and one of the first you get after the power punch.

Hi !

So, with the release of our first experimental build available to our subscribers, I wanted to define a bit more what our stance is on Piracy, as it is, after all, the main goal of this website.

For us, Piracy is inevitable. And it's not something we want to fight against. We'd much rather embrace it. As such, the game has no DRM or protection other than 'Please don't share private releases, ok thanks bye.'

The only protection comes to our code in the sense that it was compiled with IL2CPP to avoid easy decompilation of IL code. This isn't really in the goal of protecting the game, but more about protecting our own code from being ripped (Also, hey, I'm pretty self-concious of my code, I don't want everyone to see how bad it can be :censored: ) . Again, there is no DRM, no checks to hack :)

Save files aren't protected, and are simple json text files.

So, about the private releases:

We don't really mind having them shared here. We perfectly understand that not everyone can afford or even wants to pay for the game. All we ask is that if you do end up liking our work, you consider supporting us :).

Just one note: We won't share the releases here ourselves, as I think it wouldn't be fair to our supporters. You are absolutely free to share it if you obtain a copy of the private release however.

I'm also more than happy to interact with the community here, even about private release content.

Thanks for reading me !

So basically, you won't give the builds, but you won't stop others from sharing the builds. I get that right?

Exactly. If you do get your hands on a private build (regardless of the way), I won't admonish anyone for sharing it, or try to control it with DRM.

All I ask is, if you think the product is worth it and have some disposable income, to consider supporting us. Every little bit helps with the development :)

As to why I won't share it, it's just a matter of principle towards supporters. I don't really want to have supporters paying for access and me just sharing the build behind them. However, I don't control what you do, and trying to control it would be a waste of time and pointless. (Besides, even though the copy was acquired by questionable means, any feedback and interaction is welcome)

----

On another note, we already identified a few non critical issues with EX-1.01 and we'll deploy a EX-1.01h1 most likely next Monday, once we got a maximum amount of reports and fixes :)

So far, nothing gamebreaking, thankfully. Mostly level design issues, a room that got a few tiles corrupted, and a few acid baths that transformed into death traps if you fall in them due to the changes we made to liquids. ^^

I'd say that's a sensible way of putting things. Placing anti-cheat measures/DRM in single player games, albeit contrived for the consumer, makes sense as a developer. It can and will take a toll in income as to the people that (legally) obtain the game since it protects your assets compared to having people both pay you and share their own builds that they bought to other people that potentially didn't. Still losing money that way but you don't inconvenience those that bought it. Going a step further, incentivizing those people that actively want to keep the development of the game going with early access/behind the scenes/progress reports/etc can go a long way and to give a reason for supporting devs. It would be awkward to have a dev share the private, early access build to everyone and have everyone else who supports you look back to their money wasted lol. I've yet to see that happen (if any with positive results).

This is coming from a guy that likes piracy in the sense not to get free shit, but to make companies care for what services they're giving to the consumers, not realizing consumers have workarounds, alternatives, or other places they wish for their money to go to any motive, be it convenience, laziness, or productive. Something else that they fail to fix, provide or address is also a huge factor. It's no different with indie games

I would gladly support your project and many others. But because I live in Russia this option does not work. But thank you for your project.

Really ? I had no idea Russia wouldn't allow that. If you want, don't hesitate to join our discord and ping me, surely I can find another way for you want to have access to the ex build without going through SubscribeStar.

I want to post my thoughts here before I make a formal review (I know, text wall regardless).

First of all, I know this game isn't the "lose to lewd" kind, and I get that the design philosophy of this game flies in the face of that! I do have some sadness to that considering the "sub" animations to the medium enemies (and cock hugger), but there's no punishment to that (In fact it's optimal to do that in the case of multiple cock hugger/mediums to remove them). I know, it's just my preference, because that's what I thought when I first saw the animations that brought me here!

It's a game first, I understand, though I'll still speak first about the lewd stuff. Like it or not, that's what a lot of people do come to this kind of project for. I find it hard to play these kinds of games without that kind of enjoyment and fulfillment in mind, and in that sense, the game lacks. Medium/large enemies have two animations, and cock huggers have one, but like some "Game first" type of games like this, the sex feels completely disconnected from the gameplay. No restraints or struggling mechanic, no damaging type of sex (like the cock hugger's hold feels like it should be), so it feels alien (Get it?).

Speaking on the game itself now that I got my own personal bickering out of the way, it's a take I've seen a few times (Lewdtroidvania), and I'm always excited to see it. This is the most faithful to Metroid, for better and most certainly for worse. Combat is akin, jumping aiming and shooting, with an enjoyable focus on enemy patterns and behaviors, making learning and nailing down problematic targets satisfying. Platforming is serviceable but awkward. The jump animation sees the protagonist spin like, well, you know, and sometimes it feels like I miss a platform I thought I was on top of because of the spin animation vs where my hitbox is, though I think that's a skill issue? Though it definitely feels imprecise due to the floaty momentum. This feel is fine for combat, but for normal platforming it makes judging where I can and can't go awkward.

Oh yeah, where I can and can't go.

I'll be the first to say, my sense of direction is awful. Embarrassing, even. As such, I've had to stop my first play session short due to incredible frustration at trying to find where I am supposed to go. I understand this game isn't going to have a sort of narrative that points you where to go like "modern" (post Super) Metroid games, but even that game had something that helped me narrow it down: a map system. One that you could get the full map to the area from certain stations. Without that, I'm bumbling around the same seven screens frustrated that I'm unable to see any more of the content of the game, just like six health upgrades.

TLDR: Game's pretty good, combat's fun, jumping is jank, nsfw content feels a bit sparce, gods above please give me a map and a direction.
