.wav-files? Are you serious? That's like RAW sound, and no one uses that in a final product, be it movie, music, game, or anything. This is not pre-1995, and mp3-compression has also been common since the 90s. Even today mp3 is good enough for commercial sale of music.
You will not just compress the audio a bit. You will compress the audio a LOT and have great success with that.
And if your sound design is so awesome that it can't be compressed without harming your artistic integrity, then at least use a lossless compression like FLAC or something.
