It is definitely a solid update. But I think the dev should really work on the optimization of the game. Now it's the size of the original CoD Modern Warfare, and at this rate it won't be far until it reaches the size of more modern CoD games.
As much as it's just one gripe, it's still big enough to complain. Modern day developers' aversion to optimization is the reason why 1T is not considered as huge storage space anymore.
I know what you mean, the problem is that there is not much they can do about it. The renders are packed in .rpy, which compresses. What isn't in them is either .webp or .webm, which has one of the best quality to compression ratio.
What makes it difficult is that the game doesn't render the game in real time, so every image we see is a .jpg or .webp. Modern games don't have this problem, they just need the assets and the engine does the rest for presentation.
RenPy can't really render, it's more or less a PowerPoint presentation.
Animations, which we all love, have the biggest impact on size.
So either they compress the data even more or they reduce the render resolution both are a loss of quality.
