Bonus content.
People can easily make the difference between actual gameplay renders and bonus content renders - the art,the lighting and the scenery is bit different and also bonus renders involve something that is obviously too "hardcore" for SoD story (at least until 5.0 update)
EDIT: also want to point out that there are special renders for top tier patrons and others that the dev. likes to send sometimes to fans of the game which also fall into the Bonus category but look like they're from the gamplay renders.
