I know what you mean, the problem is that there is not much they can do about it. The renders are packed in .rpy, which compresses. What isn't in them is either .webp or .webm, which has one of the best quality to compression ratio.
What makes it difficult is that the game doesn't render the game in real time, so every image we see is a .jpg or .webp. Modern games don't have this problem, they just need the assets and the engine does the rest for presentation.
RenPy can't really render, it's more or less a PowerPoint presentation.
Animations, which we all love, have the biggest impact on size.
So either they compress the data even more or they reduce the render resolution both are a loss of quality.

it is rng based, so you just have to keep going to the toilet every day until you get it. i did it in the mornings before class, and got it eventually

Solid update imo, Fooxied, Good story advancement, Great assortment of HC content, Good Humor also. This title seems to be headed in a good direction and I will finally pick it up on Steam. Well Done.

For being one of the smaller updates, this was a 6 of 10 update, I think. It's not as bad as people make it out to be, but I think some of the criticism is valid.
Fingering and handjobs are a little.. tame, for where Riley is at.
Wyatt's scene could've used a second phase or so, especially when it's going to be a repeatable. It felt a little short and underwhelming. Other than that, hot scene.
DnD / Fantasy scenes are just.. meh. It's like dream scenes - it's just not something that really happens to Riley, so there's no appeal at all in that for me personally. It does "fill" the game though and it's good practice in case the dev wants to venture into the fantasy genre at some point? ;-)
If the next one is a smaller one again, I will probably just sit it out and wait for 5.0. See ya next year, I guess!

I think people are missing the point of the update. It's a small update between the big updates. That's what it was meant to be. It was also an outlet to tie up all the loose ends left by the last episode. If you went home with Ivy at the end of the last episode then it would make no sense for the Dean to fuck you in the library. The update just catches up all the stories so that the next time they get continuations it'll make more sense. I know it's a porn game but knowing how passionate the dev is about the characters and the story, it makes sense.
That said, I'm guessing that the Wyatt scene was animated by a new team member. Riley's face in these scenes seemed a tad off. It was still good but it definitely had slightly different expressions.
I will also say that I'm glad the swingers from the yacht are being added into the story. Samantha is smokin.

They have to drag the game/story somehow to fish out till the next sex happens which would probably be 2-3 updates away based on the history.

Yeah but all those who DID not go with Ivy and got the pounding from Dean under the starry moon lit sky, makes no sense to just get away with some casual petting, which loose end does it connect here. It instead rewinds back to phase 1 of "knowing each other" and "bonding".
I would humbly like to throw out a little provocation and suggest to the DEV that beyond the continuous professed love for the husband, "maaaaybe", this "love" would gain a little credibility if, I don't say a lot, but at least every now and then the husband and wife also fucked?
I suggest something like, I don't know, add to choices without scenes in the bedroom, "Sleep", "Take a nap", "Fuck with Mike and after sleep", "Back"
or if you really want to waste some time for a little scene...on Sunday afternoon " Talk", "High achiever", "have a quickie"....?
