It seems we have some details about In the Ocean I Learned to Float, the upcoming game from Oracle and Bone, developers of A Summer's End.

View attachment 4304365

SYNOPSIS

Kay’s return to Hong Kong was supposed to be her homecoming, but upon visiting her childhood home she makes a shocking discovery. Her best friend, Grace, is missing. In her pursuit for truth, Kay meets a disco dancer and business woman. By piecing together their stories and their fragmented memories, she begins to uncover the terrifying secret behind Grace’s disappearance.

Weaving personal history with the historical past, In the Ocean I Learned to float is a romance story about resilience and hope in the face of uncertainty.

FROM A SUMMER’S END TO THE OCEAN

Set in the winter of 1988, the new story takes place two years after the events of A Summer’s End. In the Ocean will feature new locations and new characters. Familiar faces will appear in the new game as well.

How In the Ocean differs from A Summer’s End is that the new story will explore more mature themes and topics. The colonial history of Hong Kong and the intersectionality of race, class, gender, and sexuality is an integral theme to understanding the new cast’s motivations and worldview.

The game and story will be longer than A Summer’s End. The gameplay will feature elements of investigation and exploration. The player will have the opportunity to visit locations not previously shown in A Summer’s End and interact with characters and objects in the scene. The relationship between place and memory is an important part of In the Ocean.
Looks really really interesting, and something I might enjoy. Thanks for the info!

I dropped Little Regina , the romance with Foxy / Jess made me to uncomfortable personally. If it wasn't forced I would of kept playing.

Mind if I use this this topic again to request something so I don't get people suggesting the most disturbing titles out there "as a joke?"

I'm craving a psychological horror vn that doesn't have sa. Preferably something that isn't anime style.

friendly reminder everyone: don't give someone like that attention. Just click ignore in their profile, and move on.

I am not sure why you considered my post offensive. However I apologize if that caused harm. I provided my genuine perspective on the matter. I try to assume good faith on my end and clearly you didn't see it as such.

If you only mean games that were first released this year, I'd give a try to the Tides of Succession, The Missing Part, Alienated and Beyond Tomorrow (the latter was restarted this year)

Do I have to play the other games mentioned on that page to understand the story or is this game standalone but in a shared universe?
The story stands alone. You won't catch every reference to things that went before in the universe, but none of that should keep you from understanding the story told in this game.
