There's a big difference between the story of an average person and a story that can be written with a more regular protagonist, and that exaggerated rattle-off is a good example why more grounded medieval and fantasy stories serve a function: you wouldn't've written that if your misconceptions hadn't been reinforced by media. There are plenty of options besides peasants, and even then one of the most influential, famous and (in England) notorious women of the 15th century was born as a peasant girl.
Elaborating on this for a moment, medieval peasants typically married in their later teens or twenties, and marriage in their twenties was especially the norm in western Europe after 1000, though 15 or 16 was more common in the Early Middle Ages, so the average person wouldn't marry at 12 or have grandchildren at 30. If it was difficult to afford their own household peasants would often marry late. Nobles had a lower average marriage age than peasants, something I suspect is true for more cultures even if their peasants usually married younger than in medieval Europe, and some did marry that young tho the average for nobles wasn't that low either.

And "your wife is killed when enemy raiders burn your village" itself implies a possible plot for peasants: fighting against raiders as part of their lord's levy or as self help. But there are other possible concepts for peasants too, and then there are possibilities for non-peasant and non-noble protagonists too...

Don't jinx it by giving the developer some ideas :p.
I think if a developer gets their ideas for their stories from a random post deep in this topic, there's another problem here. :)

You're pure evil =)

I mean there's no denying that after I made this.

Okay... Does anyone write anymore? So I'm writing a story and someone dosen't like it. "You need to change this!" 'No.' Write your own.

You're right that your vision for your story is the right one. That said, many writers find it useful to join a writer's group where they can get early feedback on their work. While bad advice isn't very useful, good advice is often invaluable.

I think we agree. Yet can I tell the story better? It's a story.

I would say feedback is invaluable. Which is not the same thing as listening to people demanding changes, or doing polls for the story. But actual editors and proofreaders that give constructive feedback? That's pure gold.

So, feed back is okay.
So when you write... is it a story?
Please, try to write your replies outside of the quote of the message you're replying to.

So do you change your story?
If I'm asking for feedback, it's because I want to know what problems my story has. So yes, obviously I take the feedback into consideration. Ideally, the feedback should be things that are problematic, stuff that's not working. So if that helps me locate what's wrong with the story, I use that feedback to correct the problems, so I can better tell the story I wanted to tell.

True.

A classic place where feedback is necessary is when there's a secret that you're trying to hint at and reveal slowly. Since you know the secret, it's really hard to tell if you're being too obvious or too obtuse in your hints. You pretty much need other people to help with that.
