I don't remember off the top of my head, but i think this is what triggers it
-make sure kate/aunt is staying in the alternative room, the one that the mc can rent for himself, the night that she is staying in the room, invite lily to dinner at the stepfamilys house, she will catch them leaving, and you should be able to invite her


if that didn't work, make sure she is staying the night in the alternative room, and try these a few times to see if it triggers
-keep getting caught by her when leaving with lily when going to stepfamily house for dinner
-keep spending time with kate/aunt to build her relationship up, also use discuss interests with kate, it helps as well
-talk to lily and kate, maybe they have a new dialog for it, don't remember


after trying them for a few, the next time the mc leaves the diner with lily to go to stepfamilys house for dinner, see if the mc can invite kate
