I've gotten that, and the option for her to come with isnt there. All i can select is "lie"
You have to talk to Aunt Kate about the stepfamily first. A new dialogue option showed up at some point in Aunt Kate's dialogue menu and you've missed it because there's no need to talk to most characters when you reach a certain point in your relations with that character. Lot's of players miss this.
