I've played this game so many times and I think I'm done downloading it over and over just for a tiny bit of new content. Unless they add something like a pregnancy content or something actually interesting, I probably won’t be coming back until the whole thing is finished.

Assuming you're on a windows PC, you can try removing the persistent files in:
%appdata%\renpy\StraitenedTimes-1556023370 and the game\game\saves folders.
You don't have to delete them, just move them out of those folders and see if it works. If it doesn't help put em back. If it does, delete em.

You can also change the folder view to details and watch the date-time mark on log.txt. If that's not updating to the current date/time you opened the exe, then you may have to redownload the game and try again

Also, something may go wrong during the unzipping process. Try unzipping it once more before downloading.
